Levelling advice
BM GS tank. I rolled it from lvl 11 onward to 80. Rarely die. [edit] most of my deaths were jumping from too high. Soloed just about all the [group] content, soloed all but two champs.
key skills to pick up are healing spring, and signet of the wild. The regen will keep your buffed pet alive much longer and can easily tank 5+ enemies at a go.
Its stupid the stuff I’ve been able to get away with using this.
I leveled from 5 to 80 with nothing but a longbow. It is kind of nice killing everything before it gets to you. You can’t die if you can’t get hit!
Condition damage…
Use torch and axe
Traps
Got to 80 killing things way higher level than me…
I didn’t really use a vow, they were quite weak..
With a condition trap vuild, you can always kill many things at once.

Sorry not up on game abbreviations plus I hate there use anyway.
Tank bit I get but what does BM GS mean ?
currently level 60 need some advice on a good levelling build that can take me through to 80. Is there any PVE face melting builds out there? (have not played my ranger in a month or 2)
Traps are the way to go m8. Weapons are up to you really, i used mainly sword/torch, shortbow and gs. Longbow is also good for barrage. Entangle as elite.

BM=beastmastery
GS=greatsword

Daisy means Beast Mastery Traitline focus with a Greatsword. Beast Mastery will boost your pet and yourself with boon synergies and up your swapping speed to cut down on pet deaths.
Greatsword offers a nice dash away if you use Swoop without a target, Counter can block ranged and melee and kicks the enemy away if it’s a melee attack (and it can hit more than one), and Hilt Bash buys you stuns and helps your pet lay into a target.
The basic Greatsword attack chain has an Evade every third swing, which is very nice.
I would pack a Longbow as my secondary weapon for it’s Point Black Shot to knock enemies away if you need time to think/wait on your sword cooldowns, and Hunter’s Shot is a nice opener: it stacks Vulnerability and gives Swiftness to you pet, so they run and stay on the target better.
A good opener in PvE is: Hunter’s Shot to get your pet on them and stack Vulnerability, swap to Greatsword and Swoop in, Maul, then swing away. Counter or Hilt Bash if you see the enemy winding up to hit you and you don’t want to dodge.
Thanks for the replies so far
Explore,
I didn’t even realize how high level I was then suddenly… kitten.. i need to gear myself in 80 equipment. As you can see from the responses it doesn’t really matter what build you choose to go for stable, range, condition, pet, just get out there.
Rangers do very well in solo pve.
Loch Ness Monster (nnnf)
just run around with a bow, grabbing marksman and wilderness traits for toughness and power, then when you max those start going into vitality for solo’ing.
Exploring really is the quickest way of leveling, most of it you’ll end up having to do by yourself more now than you used to because everyone is always in cursed shore/fotm/exp dungeons farming.
Elementalist
The Dragonfly Effect [Phi]
10% damage while endurance is full
10% damage while flanking
x2 bear
Throw points into whatever else looks cool but get the damage reduction when falling trait.
Yeah, even though a lot of the ranger gripes about being underpowered or broken are true, we really do shine in solo PvE. As I said, using a longbow, I leveld all the way up without dying too much or really having to play around too much with my heal button. A friend of mine leveled up at the same time with condition/traps and said it was great, but he got bea tup a lot and was always healing himself. Personal preference I guess.
