Really feel like I’m playing the wrong class for this fight….

My pet spends all the fight dead and I don’t have the endurance to dodge aoe after aoe even with vigor. Rifts can’t be damaged with normal ranged attacks. They only seem to die with my LB 5 (which roots me while it casts) or the damage from Lightning Reflexes (which I can’t use on every rift). Our trait trees don’t really seem cut out for this sort of thing either. 10% extra damage with endurance full? 10% extra damage from flanking? I’ll pass. I thought about going bunker build to help me survive but remembered there’s a 2 minute time limit to kill her without a pet, so dps build it is.

I’ve been trying axe/wh, sword/wh, SB and LB. I can hit her with 3 lights easily (if all goes well) but when she starts moving, attacking and the aoe is doubled, I rarely get her past 75% before I’m dragged away by a rift and killed. I use Rampage as One but the stability doesn’t last long.

Gear is a mix of berserker’s and rampager’s with a bit of toughness from ascended ring/backpiece. Was 30/20/5/0/15 until I realised my pet was near worthless here and tried 30/10/30/0/0 instead. Didn’t work.

I just have no sustain for this fight, neither heals nor dodges. I can predict where the aoe will be but there’s always either a row of visions I’d have to dodge through (making me lose endurance anyway) or a rift gets me while reflexes is on cd.

Has anyone beaten her on a Ranger? Any advice?

Yeah, I beat her in 7 tries. It’s actually probably easier to do with ranger since you get to shred her with shortbow. Shortbow is awesome in the guantlet.

There’s tons of posts talking about how to beat her with ranger around here. A little research saves a lot of time.

Here’s my advice:

• don’t use anything that involves your pet (empathic bond, shared anguish, signet of renewal)—that stuff doesn’t help you when your pet is dead. No, this does not make the fight “harder” on ranger than on other professions.

• do use a sigil of purity and shortbow

• do use full berserker maybe with some knights trinkets

• Use lightening reflexes (breaks stun AND destroys orb since it does damage)

• Build something like 30 (signet of beastmaster and signet of stone)/15 (primal reflexes)/15 (wilderness knowledge) /10 (nature’s protection)/0

• At the beginning, there’s an optimal way to start off where you don’t even get hit. By stutter stepping and always being in line with the portals, you can easily control the visions to make them walk where you want

• the stutter step makes people miss ranged attacks—learn it and use it to your advantage so you don’t go into phase 2 weak from her necro-ish ranged attack

And read our posts around here. This question has been asked and answered and many rangers have posted video of themselves beating it. Go to the Queen’s Jubilee forum and read about how some guardians took 100 tries to win. Stop using the pet as an excuse, rangers, you’re not doing yourself any favors and you’re lying to yourself. It’s not the pet’s fault.

I can practically make it to phase 2 untouched but after that it all goes downhill. I’m looking for some info on how people survive later on. Didn’t realise there were so many threads though, first page didn’t have Liadri anywhere. :T (But feel free to tell me how that’s no excuse)

I don’t get the pet thing though. They really are useless here, I need to make up the lost damage myself since even with careful management my pet will still manage to linger in an aoe. About the only time i’ll be using one is when I use signet of stone. Hopefully my jungle stalker is able to cast F2 and doesn’t spend the entire 6 seconds staring blankly at a wall.

Pets are pretty useless indeed. In the end I managed to keep my devourer alive through part 1 by having it on passive and steering it a bit with my own movements. Used F2 with RaO and QZ to get some dmg to start with. After thakittens indeed just spamming shortbow while walking in circles to avoid AoE (find that ideal radius!), dodge whenever you need to and throwing all you have at her. Its tricky, requires luck and quite a few tries, but in end you will get it.
Also, make sure you prepare well. You might need to buy some new gear, use dmg boosting food, use those leftover boosters, work up your bloodlust stack before every try and get a boost from one of the emissaries.

Sword/axe and shortbow here. I’m really really emphasizing the axe here. It makes all the difference in this fight, so much bettter. You can use axe 4 to pull the adds in the circles, and axe 5 on Liadri or on the adds. If you’re low on health, you can even use axe 5 to kill the adds, die and res instantly with a little more health and your pet revived.

Regarding the pet; I used signet of the beastmaster and signet of stone to have 6 seconds of pet hitting awesomeness and invulnaribility of aoes. It makes a difference. It’s also a nice panic button.

I actually killed Liadri in the last seconds with my axe 5 while she was doing her whirly stufkittend of a suicide move, but it worked. The rest of her health I took with my shortbow.

I eventually defeated her running a spirit build – sounds mad I know
ran 20,0,20,30 – to bring spirits with me and still have piercing arrows. Knights armor and zerk trinkets. ran with sharpening stone, sun spirit and speed signet. phase 1 is easy once u realise its exactly the same everytime u run it, sword horn to hit orbs.
Phase 2 rampage as one (horn 5 first if its up) switch to shortbow and kite – skills 4 and 5 keep her at bay and mostly stop her crippling u. u can find a nice kite position near the centre where u can circle and hit all the safe spots without dodging. only needed to dodge if I was crippled. orb is a bit annoying if it pulls u at wrong time but a quick target change and hit the orb resses u.
use sharpnening stone as soon as its up and poison volley too. I basically shortbow’d her to death. the spirit can stay up if u get the right kite route as I mentioned earlier.
Took me a good amount of tries to defeat her but this build was the only one I even got close to killing her with.

I found learning the mechanics and positions and patterns of the shadow fall to be the key to this fight.

To bring diversity to the builds beeing used when defeating Liadri, I will just quickly summon up the build I just killed here with.

Pets: Drakehound /Wolf (only used for first orb and knockback after 3. hit)
Weaponset: Shortbow (Major sigil of air [the smaller version]) / GS (major sigil of fire [did not matter at all])
Skills: Troll-Unguend, Signet Of The Hunt, Signet Of The Wild, Signet Of Renewal, Rampage As One
Traits: 30 (III / VII / VIII) / 20 (II / IV) / 10 (IV) / 10 (V) (did not respecc, just tried to use traits that somehow make sense for the fight)
Buffs: Omnomberry Ghost / Potent Superioir Sharpening Stones

FINALLY GOT HER!!!!!

i took the build that was posted by whoever killed her, i used x3 rabid/carrion gear with rabid seals, ramp sbow, with +condi duration food / pericision oil

Grats! Post in the jubilee thread “liadri slayer club” if you haven’t already. That post was only 5 pages deep last time I checked.

I love the mini too. When you bust that out in a dungeon, people know you mean business.

In fact—lurkers I’m talking to you— if you have low achievement points, I strongly recommend getting the mini. Use it and people know for a fact you can hold your own.

^ totally true, and +post there forgot about that one. now to work on 5gambit ><" with either the the build you just posted or my 30/30/x10/x that worked for 3gambit. But first a break to grind tickets/money and just not tax myself mentally again. Keep at it rangers lets have more of us nail her.
