Lick Wounds Never Works
It does seem to work quite a bit better when you actually revive the animal.
Loch Ness Monster (nnnf)
just another thing that needs to be fixed
last time in dungeon i used the kitten thing 2 times and the pet was still staying next to me watching how i slowly die

Indeed – always check what your pet is doing when you’re downed. If it’s wandering about aimlessly, it is also probably “downed,” in which case switch to your other pet before using the skill (since fortunately you still have total control over your pet while downed). I’ll even switch regardless, since 1. it means the pet that is reviving you has full health for sure and 2. it brings the pet next to you instead of off attacking your target.
it doesn’t matter if the pet is dead or not because when you use the skill it revives yor pet and calls it to heal you so you can get revived too
the problem is in that pet even alive sometimes just sits next to you doing nothing

And sometimes it just makes it worse, he comes along and bring all the farking aggro with him, finishing you even faster.

I’ve never seen it not work. Pets don’t have an actual animation for reviving and don’t heal that much (they heal less than players unless you’re using Compassion Training), so maybe you’re just expecting it to do more than it is. Or maybe I just haven’t seen this bug, who knows.
The only problem I’ve seen with it is that if the pet is at low health (but not already downed) using Lick Wounds won’t heal it at all, then the pet will go down shortly after so you don’t get much healing, because once the pet is downed it stops healing. Better if the pet is already downed so that it gets healed to full health before you use it.
It’d be nice if Lick Wounds healed the pet to full health even if its not already downed.
As for bringing the aggro… if your pet has all the aggro then just don’t use Lick Wounds. You should be able to heal yourself with Bandage at that point.

No, it doesn’t work 100% i’d say it works about 75% of the time, it’s very easy to tell when it’s NOT working because if you’re lying there bleeding out in the backlines (like most rangers would) you wouldn’t be taking any damage, and as such your health should just be increasing but when it keeps spiraling downwards while your pet should be “rezzing” you…. it’s fairly obvious it’s not working….
What they -should- do is either make lick wounds full heal your pet, or make it so it works like Search And Rescue where they pet will continue to heal even if he dies, this way regardless of what happens you’ll get the healing from the skill (well the former would give you more healing then you do now in most scenarios but w/e)

It should always make your pet instantly respawn at your body and start reviving. It should also heal the pet back to 100%. I’ve had many pets die on its way back to my body, simply because it was at 10% health when I used the skill. I would have been better off if the pet had been dead, because then I get it for 100% health and instantly next to my body.
[There is so much room for improvement of the ranger class. So many tiny annoyances and bugs and clunky mechanics. But there sure is so much potential in the class too. This class could be a lot more fun if they simply spent time on fixing all the small inconsistencies.]
Just lost a game due to that freakin skill not working, my pet just stood next to me doin nothing. It’s getting beyond frustrating all our broken/unbalanced skills and traits.
I even swap my pet to make sure he is alive before I use Lick Wounds (even though that is suppose to revive your pet anyways) and it still doesn’t work half the time.
It does in fact revive your pet and makes it run to you and it will slowly heal you. The heal is so small that if you take any damage it’s not even noticed. This leads people to believe it’s broken. It puts your own heal on cooldown which is BS. I think it’s meant for you to use your attack ability while the pet heals you. Yes it’s a POOR system and is for the most part useless.
Also if you have some bear, lizard or dog licking your wounds, wouldn’t that kill you faster from the infection it would bring? LOL

Did not work at all for me yesterday after switching back to my ranger for a day (I’m playing warrior now.) In over 10 uses of the skill I never got any healing. I have hundreds of hours playing ranger, I know when it works and when it doesn’t. It wasn’t so small I didn’t notice, it was just nothing.
At least with Vengeance it’s by design that I die after using it. Lick Wounds doesn’t even do what it says it does.

Do you mean if he is down the heal is so small? Because I definitely notice the heal when the pet wasn’t downed/if I switch to my other pet with full health.
The skill definitely works – but I’m not sure it works every time either.
krojack you are right but believe me i know when i get healed and when not
it works most of the time but it is still a broken skill

This.
There is a very simple explanation for this – and no, it is not a bug: You may find from time to time when you are downed that your pet has low health, in fact it may even be continuing to take damage from nearby enemies when you are downed. Now, when you call your pet to come rez you, it does not give the pet full health and consequently it may die right after you call it – appearing to have “failed”. As another poster pointed out, you still have entire control over your pets when you are downed and it is recommened to swap (if the cooldown is up), when you are downed in order to have a pet with full HP reviving you.
No, this ability fails to work about 30-40% of the time.
If your pet is dead and you use the ability, the pet will revive and run to your body. If it’s alive, it will just run to you. In either situation the pet will often fail to heal you. It will just sit next to your body staring at you.
It’s pretty easy to test. Let a mob kick your tail, use the ability, watch it fail a good portion of the time. If you do decide to test it like this, you might want to make sure you get the mob down to a reasonable level of health so you don’t actually die.
i had read somewhere where terrain affects it negatively but i have also seen that it fails while sitting on a point in Spvp when i wasnt taking damage…so meh its broken and anyone who claims its not is either lucky as hell or not very observant

As a side note, it would be very nice to be able to see your pet’s health bar while downed, probably helping to clear some of this up.
I never understood why our pets still walk around when they are “downed”.

Terrain seems to be the go-to excuse for anything that can’t be explained anymore in this game.

If there are no green numbers IT ISN’T HEALING YOU. And it’s heal isn’t small – it’s close to or the same as a player healing you.
Exactly^ The skill is just bugged/broken.

I know that if the pet dies after you use the skill it won’t heal you, or will stop.
This is not what everyone is referring to.
In sequential order: Your pet is alive or downed, you use the skill (reviving it, if it is downed), then the pet successfully moves to you and does absolutely nothing.
