Hi there!
I been running longbow more or less ever since I started playing. But the buff on the shortbow made me consider using that instead of my current LB. I tried to find some updated builds… But most topics of the matter that I could find is at least 2 years old.
I mostly farm around and about in Maguuma or run PvP (WvW or Arenas).

So the questions am having is: is LB or SB the superior in PvP right now? And is LB or SB better for solo-farming (map exploring, random event stuff etc)? What build would you suggest running?

Lb for power.
Sb for condi.

Both can be used in hybrid.

Longbow is the better weapon in general.

The SB adjustment was minor because the direct damage was very low to begin with. A slight increase to the CC and poison duration helps no doubt but LB is still much more impactful (LB has a better GM trait to support and better utility with 600 more range to boot).

Shortbow range is too short, I didn’t even notice shortbow has been buffed.

More amulets synergize better with the Longbow, so in PvP I’d consider the Longbow better. Although both aint optimal.

Longbow is pretty amazing, they did a great job fixing it- beyond expectations.

I don’t know how it will do in sPvP but in World PvE meta events and WvW
this guys Sb/AT build has been fun as hell and I have adopted my Druid as my new favorite.

I re-rolled Ranger many times prior to hitting even level 20, I was just not having much fun, then we received the insta 80 from HoT so I decided to just go ahead and make my Duid. Ran around with Longbow and Staff once I hit Druid and was still feeling Meh about it and returning to my Necro pretty consistantly.

After remodeling my Druid after the OPs build, I haven’t played my other toons, except my Guardian when needed in WvW, since.

I will also mention that this is the first Condi build I have used on any of my characters. I love it.

Yeah it had a 1200 range and a faster rate of fire, all the other skills were pretty much the same I think. LB got a total rework and made it amazing.

I don’t see a zerk ranger using a shortbow, but I think the LB is still better in all scenarios.
I’m not even playing HoT yet but I’m running a condition build now and loving it.

The shortbow however is not that interesting, only considering these scenarios:

- Against single foes
- When you are equipping condition drakes that are strong enough to distract the enemy, then you can mass hit the enemy by the back to stack bleeding
- Using Quickening Zephyr, then you can stack up to 20 bleeding, the pulse takes the enemy down fast.
