What is better longbow or shortbow?

If your playing PVP go longbow shortbow

Pve/farming go longbow greatsword

have the flame aoe sigil in your Lbow
in your Sbow + gsword lightning sigil

In pvp i find that with the longbow i can keep distance and still throw out dammage with quickness+barrage

and the knockback + shortbow 3 skill lets me gain the distance if they close on me

Both, they serve different purposes.

As long as the game exists.

The game has been out long enough for the community to have a general stance on these subjects/questions so many new players find it easier to come on the forums and just ask here instead of testing them out and repeating the same tests that veteran players (beta testers, etc.) have already done for hours/days/weeks/months.

It’s a logical thought process, so may as well get used to it. It just takes a little more forethought to realize that it isn’t as cut and dry as the questions want to make it.

Shortbow is a short range skirmishing weapon, Longbow is a strategic weapon, better at keeps/standoffs. The AE Barrage of longbow can be used to back up and manipulate large groups of enemies and has some nice burst potential with Rapid Fire but too slow a weapon for skirmishing without moving between the two bows regularly.

I run LB/Short Bow high Survival build (~3000+ Armor/Attack and 2100 toughness 17K hits) which allows me to stay in the danger Zone long enough to get a Barrage off (with Sharpening Stone/QZ it makes for an fun AE Bloodbath)

Im currently running 20 MM 20 Skirm and 30 Wilderness with emphasis on longer Range on LB and faster cooldowns on both bows. and 20% Survival skills (entangle/SS/QZ/LR) being my 4 skills all with faster cooldowns due to traits.

In 3 weeks as an 80 in casual play (1.5 to 3 hours a night) have managed to accumulate over 750 badges and seem to die far less than my guildies, all this to say so far so good with the angle I am playing
