Looking For Dungeon/Pve Build
SB works well with condition builds, and great with bleed on crit trait and sigil, so precision/condi/toughness I believe is the stat allocation. Trap builds.
Drawbacks and the reason I don’t do condi damage in this game.
- condition caps like 25 bleeds means you can reach a hard cap on damage
- condi caps mean if you have more than one person stacking bleeds, you’re losing DPS.
Kal Snow – Norn Guardian
I’m just looking for any Dungeon/PvE build. I’m open to all weapon combinations. I’ve only just have my ranger at lvl 80 and trying to get a decent build.
I’d like good damage, but survivability.
Would All Stat gear be an option?
I’d be interested in the same thing. Most of the builds I come across seem to be geared toward PVP or WvW.
I run Berserk gear with two different builds that I have used.
20/30/5/15/0 – This gives you access to most of the useful traits and allows you to run traited frost spirit while giving your pets buffs too. You can move the 5 points in wilderness if you don’t want the endurance regen.
20/25/25/0/0 – More defensive variation, you lose pet buffs, traited frost, and a little regen but you gain more toughness, slightly higher personal damage, and maintain access to offhand training which makes the oh axe, and the torch much better.
These builds are intended to be taken with damage traits in order to get your damage as high as possible. The one negative is that you will be glassy, and your main damage set is usually sword/horn while your secondary set is picked based on your needs.
Use whatever utility skills you see fit to use. In general, if you don’t expect your pet/spirit to die, you can take Sic’Em, QZ, and frost spirit in a bid to maximize your damage.

I love alphak’s advice. I would say yes always high DPS gear and rune of the ranger but also, in high level fractals, reflection is almost required as well as invulnerability. Therefore, your build becomes 30/0/20/20/0 for signet of beastmaster and offhand training. You make up for the lack of precision and crit damage with your utilities.
Just a question to the rangers that run high level fracts/dungs.
How do you manage keeping the pet alive when going with 0 BM traits?
I’m level 74 atm on ranger, but even with 30 BM traits, in boss fights, the pet can die if I’m not too carefull or simply unlucky. I feel if i go with a glassy dps build (0 BM) the pet is going to die straight away lol
You don’t. If a fight throws around dangerous AOE, there is little you can do to prevent a pet’s death no matter how good you are at micromanaging.
Until Anet implements a non-interupting pet dodge of some sort, there is little use in sacrificing your damage in the hopes that you might be able to keep your pet alive.
