Looking for Longbow sniper build for big hits..
Hey There -
I just threw a few things together for you – have not tried out these builds but built them on a few key things you mentioned.

30/20/20/0/0 – Longbow / Greatsword
Heal: Heal as One
Utils: Sharpening Stone, Quickening Zephyr, Storm Spirit
Elite: Rampage as one
This is mainly a high power, high crit sniper build with a tiny amount of survivability thrown in. You could choose to do 30 in Skirmishing and only 10 in Wilderness Survival, but you’ll be losing some toughness and the 20% reduction on your Greatsword skills. So, if you were to do that, I would recommend going Longbow/Shortbow instead of the greatsword.
Highlights of the build / Basics of how to play it:
You would want to stay at range when possible, only switching to the Greatsword when the situation forces your hand. Swiftness is your friend, as it’s going to increase the number of long bow attacks, providing more damage, more chances to crit, and therefore more use of Sharpened Edges.
Both the storm spirit and quickening zephyr provide you with swiftness. Use sharpening stone at the get go, and as often as its up.
I would focus on power and crit gear.
Fair Warning: This build is definitely on the fringes of glass cannon, if not one completely.

Get full berserkers set as well as ruby ori trinkets and gems. Get ranger sigils then do 30/30/10 with axe/warhorn and longbow. Your crit damage shoukd be just under 100 around 98 with an unbuffed crit chance of 59-60% with rampage as one as elite and warhorn you should be able to maintain 80% crit chance most of the time and at max range you will hit for trucks. Your 3 utility skills depends on where you are using it.
If youre going to wvw and you feel like you need an oh kitten button, get the stone signet and trait for the signets affect you perk. Go with 10% extra damage when full endurance as the first marksman trait.
also for heals i highly recommend the healing spring heal as it removes conditions even freezing and im pretty sure it may remove cripple. Most people are unaware.
Wow guys, fantastic posts. Thanks so much. Now I know almost as much about a ranger as I do my own class lol. One more quick question, which sigils on weapons do you prefer? Great stuff Vox and Derek.
the sigils i play around with i have like 3 different longbow/sortbows i usually went with the sigil of accuracy but recently ive tried other ones like the aoe fire one. With my offhand weapon i usually have the sigil of rage or something i cant remember what it was called but it add 10 power for every enemy you kill it stacks up to 25 so its +250 power. It ends when you get downed so if you get downed alot i wouldnt bother. with the berserker build you are going to be seriously glass canon however and have around 15k hp. so youre gonna have to learn when to use your heals and evades. IMO playing glass canon helps you become a better player
also remember that you can have 2 sigils one on your warhorn one on the axe. however you cannot have 2 stacking sigils. Ex: you cannot have 2 sigils that stack 250 power or one sigil that stacks 250 power and another that stacks 250 precision. i learned that the hard way
Swiftness : 33% movement speed <-Storm Spirit
Quickness: effect that makes all skills and actions twice as fast <-QZ
if u like DPS then use the longbow..but u must put traits that use both the marksmanship and skirmishing for greater hit…dont forget to lay traps first before start fighting because it can save your butt believe me.
I would personally try a build like this for maximum ranged damage.
Warhorn for fury and might. Red moa and jungle stalker for fury and might (just make sure to keep them near you) when warhorn is on CD or when weapon swap is on CD. Use Rampage as One and Signet of the Wild as needed to avoid CC. You can swap QZ for Lightning Reflexes if you feel like you’ll need the stun break.
Signet of the Hunt for a big alpha strike every 30 seconds.
Pet swap frequently to get Zephyr’s Speed. Weapon swap to keep endurance up as needed (for the 10% damage buff).

Derek, the max any1 can get of crit damage atm is about 70% not 98%. Unless you can show me a screen. I am assuming ofc that there are no glyphs Ive passed over that give more crit damage% than divinitys.
If you go 30/20/20 imo you should put those points in wilderness survival to use with survival training and hide in plain sight for pvp. Its nice going stealth when someone CCs you.
I use possibly the highest damage build out there for longbow and its still inferior to other classes, Im hoping this wep gets buffed but atm working on a thief. However signet of the beast master in marksmanship is a nice trait for 120 sec burst, sucks that you are mediocre without them.
I can take a screen shot when I get home but 70% is not the max. I think I’m at 99% critical damage.
With the food I use I think I sit around 104ish.

Are you talking about total crit damage % or additional? Because I think I once got my ranger 50% crit damage + the 50% base for double damage crits.
