Greetings, I’ve seen discussions on this in other sub-forums but not so much here for specific needs that a Ranger might need.

Thankfully, the defense rating of many of the RARE and EXOTIC sets are similar enough that the real decisions land more on the different attributes that are built in. In thinking of what I wanted I started with armor that gave: Toughness, Condition Damage and ether Vitality or healing. (to make my ranger less squishy)

It seems you can have extra Power or Condition damage but not both.

There are just SO MANY different sets available. (what to work for?)

PHT – tanky BM evasion bunker
PVT + PPC (berserker) – LB/BM sniper
HTC – tanky conditions BM, or tanky trapper
PPV (knight’s) – for SB burst builds/skirmishing

then u can try pure damage gear for traps, conditions or burst, which i wouldnt recommend. best build tends to revolve around the BM tree and +healing.

Sorry, could you elaborate on what pvt, htc, and ppv stands for? Seen them used a lot and still have no idea what they mean.

pvt = power + vitality + toughness
htc = healing + toughness + conditions

You can figure the rest out.

PHT = power/healing/toughness (Cleric’s)
PVT = power/vitality/tougness (Soldier’s)
PPC = power/precision/critical damage (Berserker’s)
HTC = healing/toughness/condition damage (Apothecary)
PPV should be PPT = power/precision/toughness (Knight’s)

PPV only exists in s/tPvP

Thanks for the input – I’m currently using PHT (Cleric’s) gear but thinking of switching to HTC (Apothecary) for the armor. Weapons is another story.
