Magi druid in fractals/open world?
With my staff being Magi and probably runes that pump healing power I should have some decent healing power amount.
Magi staff with transference/renewal, monk runes and riceball food are likely all you need. However, if you do commit to monk runes you could probably just make the armor magi too for not just the healing power but also some vita. Of course if you don’t care about vita on armor you can always go with zealot armor.

zealot doesn’t give that much of healing power though. I thought it is not worth switching to zealot for 300 healing power. Maybe I am wrong?

The +30% healing to allies is huge on its own. If you commit to monk runes you are commiting that specific gear to healing so might aswell run that specific gear with healing power aswell.
If you truely want to min/max then run full berserker with only the staff as magi with transference/renewal with no riceball/monk runes.
Need to ask yourself if you are playing as,
Thee healer
Backup healer
Dmg/healer hybrid

That is exactly my dilemma. I want to be really effective at keeping my group alive and prividing buffs while at the same time being viable on my own doing fractals/dungeons/open world stuff.
With Zealot’s I will lose my ferocity but keep my power and precision which sounds like a good option to remain a decent amount of damage.

IMO you would benefit most from a backup healer role. Just start with the magi staff & transference/renewal. If you start looking at doing harder stuff and feel insufficient pickup riceball. If you still need more then make a NEW armor set for that content as monk/X. Monk runes are garbage for low fractals, dungeons and open world regardless of your play so you will want an armor swap set.
X being,
Zealot for power
Shaman for condi
If you start looking at wvw you can start looking at some of the healing/toughness stat combinations like cleric and minstrel aswell.
you don’t need ascended for raids, grab a set of exotic magi gear off the tp slap in some monk runes and your raid ready. Magi in fractals is useless and zealots is a huge dps loss compared to zerker. Eventually you can get additional ascended sets, I have ascended Magi, Zerker and Viper, but in the beginning ascended zerk( or viper) and exotic magi is the top choice.
here’s an old post that is still mostly relevent, ferocity is a much bigger factor in dps than you think. go zerk or go viper, rangers don’t really need assassins but you can add a few pieces in to get crit above 75%

You could always “buy” some exotic karma or dungeon token armor for open world stuff/living story kind of stuff.
I would suggest making two armor sets. Your raid group is gonna expect you to be the healer. Not the backup, not the hybrid. So you should make a set that is full magi/monk runes/etc etc etc., and then make a second set of gear for when you are doing other stuff. Just my 2 cents. Fluffball’s idea above is a good one.
My main concern is basically if Druid is decent at fractals/dungeons/open world with magi armor set?
Answer on your question is: totally worthless. Non-existant DPS, low CC, and all that content doesn’t require a dedicated healer. If you really want to be a credit to team in fractals/HoT meta bosses, go on for viper stats and shortbow+axe/torch build.
Full zerk longbow+sword/axe is still better then full magi staff druid, but has a DPS of 1/2 of a viper build (but still viable in T1 – T2 fractals and dungeons). You can trust me, I tried it all. Had a full ascended zerk ranger when HoT came in, now rerolled into viper and happy with it. Magi staff is bad even in open world, it takes like a minute just to kill a veteran mob.
For the raids have a second set of exotic magi gear, raids don’t require full ascended (5% of stats are not worth it). And go for full magi there, you will need all the healing power you need. I can recomend gear from Ascolonian catacombs dungeon. Magi stats and monk runes is just what you need.

Easy go full magi for raids. Get the tinkets from the new maps, and armor from the dungeon AC, from AC you can get exotic magi armor with monk runes directly. So its the fastest and cheapest way of getting a full sett of really good healer gear. A full run will net you over 300 tokens a day. And the cost of a full sett (+ staff) is about 1500. So 5 days worth.
For fracs/dungeons and open world, go berserker or viper. Both setts can also be used as off-healer in raids.
Thank you for the advice guys. Good thing I didn’t switch all my gear into magi lol. I guess I will get an extra set with time.

I’m going to have to keep this little tip in mind for myself I think.

Addendum about the new map stuff: you can get ascended backpack, amulet and ring from bloodstone fen that can be given ANY STAT SET in the game, and for 100 unbound magic, CAN BE RESET so you can choose again! Changeable trinkets!!!
You can also get the rest of the trinkets from Ember bay and Bitterfrost frontier, but theirs can’t be reset.
