Make a pledge for your ranger
I already have done this, I spend quite a bit each month where some people on Guardians etc…may not spend a penny on the Gem Store. I simply won’t help them if they don’t help us, yin and yang is a two way partnership.
It’s funny you mention this because every time I think about purchasing gems (I have yet to do so), I look at the professions, gameplay (all types), mechanics, etc and then cringe and withhold my purchase. If the patches even showed a sign that they were going in a way I liked, I might actually make a purchase, but with each passing patch, I get more discouraged. For instance, 5 months or so ago I knew warrior was going to be op. I called it, everyone called it (that knew anything about pvp), yet nothing has been done(you could easily argue that it has been buffed at every corner). I was playing stunlock warrior before the meta moved to it and had to show people that warrior wasn’t weak, but they just kept getting buffed. So, I made a warrior and really played it, but you know what, I loathe playing the strongest professions because it just isn’t fun to me when you win by default. It amazed me that this game has moved from an active play style to a passive one and I’m not happy about it.
I see such posts every patch since 1 year. Guess what? I will see them for next year at least. Reason? They don’t change anything.
I’m not happy with the lack of attention we get, but I’m not going to do anything about it. When I will get fed up, first thing I’ll do, will be stop reading this forum – it actually is worst part of ranger class for me
I haven’t bought gems since I got all the character slots I needed… Plus, I heard the revenue from the Gem Store doesn’t actually go to Anet, but to NCSoft? Feel free to correct me if that’s not true, but yeah…haven’t bought gems for a while either way.
If I am reading the numbers right from NCsoft’s Quarterly reports and doing the conversions properly(the numbers are in millions of South Korean Wons, so 1 would equal 1,000,000 wons, which equals 941 u.s. dollars currently), They made 36,382,000,000 KRW (34 MILLION u.s. dollars) in Q1 2013, and 28,899,000,000 KRW (27 MILLION u.s. dollars) in Q2 2013. That is off of Guild Wars 2 sales, (not accounting for royalties, labor, or anything else.)
Openly saying that you refuse to buy gems is not the way to go dude. You wont even make a dent. Not anymore than making a fool of yourself on the forums would do. Making sure you stay on top of your complaints about the Ranger Profession, and keep updating Anet about what you like and hate in their recent balance patches (which for alot of people, is nearly everything!!!) is probably the best way to go, and even if Anet decides to redesign the class (they might be working on it right now), it could be six months before we even hear anything about it because of how long that stuff takes.
I’ve spent more money than the games worth on the gem store during the first few month to support the game. I just wasted them, I don’t enjoy p2win. I felt that the game is worth way more than what most people paid for it. It’s just the crappy balance, extremely boring old dungeons and this pure DPS meta fostered by them that bother me.
It is perfectly normal to demand better service, but threads like this are pointless. Any self-respecting company would just ignore them. Especially when they’ve made enough profit out of the game. Don’t make a fool of yourself OP, lets keep this in the balance discussion and suggestion threads. There is at least a slim chance that someone other than Grouch reads those from time to time.
more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the Ranger.
