Do you guys think the CDI went well? Personally, I believe we’re about to receive massive buffs across the board. And knowing arenanet, we might possibly be launched into op territory.

I’m calling it now:

First of all, March 18 is only a “clean up” build. They’ll remove glory and the current LS, not much more. Then there are 2 other builds coming, the feature build and a balance patch. The ranger CDI will be seen in none I think. The CDI discussion must go through the entire development pipe-line, so I don’t expect to see any of that no less than half a year down the line.

WvW season 2 starts the 28th. If we don’t get it in the next 2 weeks we wont for another 11.

Smart money says the 2nd Tuesday in April. Balance devs said there would be a break period for them after the first season of the living world ends (it ends on the 18th), and the Friday Ready Up schedule has been changes to have one every Friday until the first week of April (the 4th) and then not having the next one until the 18th of April.

Could be sooner than that, but it would be highly unexpected and unlikely. As far was we know, the 18th is just glory removal and bug fixes, and the only other information we have about the date of the next “feature” build (aka balance patch) is that it’s happening before June.

Every 3-4 months, yeah. Guild Wars 1 was the same way though, so I personally didn’t expect much different, but I agree that it is totally frustrating especially when the outcry for necessary balance changes is completely and totally warranted.

True, but GW1 would change the meta overnight with their scorched earth balancing. It sucked when your build got destroyed, but it kept things fresh and interesting.

Unlikely as they try to avoid any mechanics updates during WvW seasons and the next one goes from the 28th of March to May 30th.

It’d be unwise to place a huge balance change, one that likely also changes the way sigils work, in the middle of a tournament.

“A” balance patch might happen before the new WvW season. Namely the balance patch that’s already been in the works for months and is changing the sigils and such. Won’t be the 18th since they’ve already stated that is just going to be a small epilogue patch to end the LS season.

The Ranger CDI is almost certainly not going to be in that patch, though. Maybe a few “low-hanging fruits” might make it in, but any larger changes are going to take a lot longer to implement and test than a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t expect anything to come of the CDI for a couple months in the least.

I expect the ranger update only after the WvW season, or maybe during it, Anet usually hold balance updates for PvP tournaments, not for WvW.

Ugh. During the beta I mostly played an elementalist and felt for sure that would be my profession in launch. But a few weeks into the game I tried a Ranger one evening and I found myself liking the Greatsword. Partly it is due to the Asura with it. I think it is kitten fun to see an Asura fly across and smash the kitten out of a target.

Alas, I have a hard time logging into GW2 as I find so many groups would kick me for dungeon runs. I arrive with sword and no bear and yet – kick. Finally I just gave up on group content and just roam open world now.

But I sure would like to be considered viable by the masses. I don’t need to be OP and I don’t even mind being a slight underdog. I hope the patch comes in soon and at least makes it so that I can enjoy the instanced/group content too.

And I do try to level up other professions. Meh… I just like my ranger.

Since my main is a ranger and no buffs/tweaks going to happen in this wvw season I’m better of stay out of this season. Or leveling another toon. My guild does wvw runs two times a week. Apart of this I will skip this competition.

I sooo wait TESO… Because gw2 will get a lot of love befor it.

Yeah, anything out of the CDIs is likely not to enter this coming patch short of minor simple things. Major things are going to be waiting at least two months, so they can discuss the input and either figure out how to use it or figure out how to get around perceived problems.

Sorry. They said from the first one there was no timeline for including anything, or any guarantee all/any discussed things would make it in.

Have they said one way or the other what to expect in the patch today?

I can’t imagine we’ll have a second WvW season without any real balance changes since the first one. And given the last one, we know they don’t patch in the middle of the season. While the Ranger class is a bust, I don’t think I can stomache playing the game the way it is right now for another 3 months.

As for the Ranger CDI thread, if we see anything come from that within 6 months it will be a miracle. The thread itself lacked any coordination or organization. It will take them a month just to sift through it and get anything of value from it. The overwhelming majority of things discussed were quite large in scope as the class has long since moved beyond any number tweaks or trait adjustments.

Having a functional class in WvW by the end of the year is probably asking too much.

My advice: Take a long break from the game. For next 1-2 months there will be nothing really thrilling or interesting, I bet.
There are some pretty cool games releasing on days though: Dark Souls 2 on PC, maybe that TESO thing (I can give it a shot)…

And, from amount of work they need to do if they take CDI seriously, I wouldn’t expect “fixed” Ranger before Christmas (Warlords of Draenor release time). If it comes sooner, they either won’t fix anything serious or they’ll really shorten thier sleeves and dedicate way more time to just focus on one profession.

Considering that to make Rangers viable they have to mess up with all game movement code, NPC code, separate pets from NPCs, overhaul traits and weapons… Seriously, take a break

If they have to read the whole CDI, I don’t expect anything from that for a long time. It was nearly 70 pages.

Launching a massive update that will be plagued with bugs the day Season2 of WvW launches is a sure fire way to get them to all try ESOL if for no other reason than Anet’s lack of respect for the game mode. It has more team synergy combat and can support 100+ people in one area with little to no server lag.

PvE in it may be a bit lame, but the WvW is good enough to drain Anet’s WvW if they do something stupid.

It starts the 28th of March and goes till April 30th. The only updates we’ll see during that time are probably going to be pve content like a slowly rebuilding LA or another trip to the SAB on April 1st.

Ya, if gameplay vids didn’t make it look like one big fanmade Skyrim mod and it didn’t have a sub fee (I’ll pay for good games, not for meh games) I’d check it out. I’ll probably let it marinate for a couple months before I seriously consider trying it.

The Ranger update won’t be for at least 2-3 months after they release there current balance patch which will be next month.

ESO is where ill be playing my Ranger from now. This game is just to slow at updating PvP content.

Because, we all know for a fact that they are going to buff us. There is no way they’re going to do it correctly. They are going to make some change that, in combination with other changes, will give us atleast one op spec.

A-net either throws you on one side of the board or the other, there’s no inbetween. Look at the warrior god mode buffs and the ele nerfs. Ele’s go from top tier to almost bottom, while warriors go from good pvers to gods everywhere.

Any minor change to any class and creative players will find a way to break the game with it. I don’t envy the balance team.

Some of the farming builds from GW1 were just absolutely absurd in their creativity and success at breaking everything.
