Me, Clarion Bond and my heartache
I completely agree. This change was yet another slap in the face to the ranger community, and one of the very first “fixes” (perhaps the first) after the specializations update went live. The fact that this change took priority over god-mode Mesmer for example, is ludicrous. additionally, the cool down not being aligned with pet swap proves a lack of attention to good design. God forbid ranger gets perma-anything without extreme resource allocation,. Meanwhile, Revenant, for one example, gets perma Fury with double effectiveness with 1 trait and one utility

It has 30 sec CD because the skill you guyz never used and probably never will use has the very same cooldown.
Blame warhorn, not the trait.

I don’t get why people don’t get this. Imagine if Defy Pain had no ICD.

I think we can all get behind blaming warhorn. Such a bizarre weapon. It’s like making a really nice BLT sandwich and then putting orange juice all over it before serving.
They could have released Clarion Bond with a “Lesser” Call of the Wild that had shorter boon duration than the original and tag a 15s ICD so it can proc every pet swap, but yeah…
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Lesser boon duration on that sweet 1 stack of might. Don’t want it to get out of control.
It’s not the might, it’s the swiftness. This class has “too much” swiftness. Shocked they haven’t nerfed it on us like they did Vigor.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
That’s sort of the point though. Rangers poop out swiftness, fury, and regen and we always have. Many of the updated traits even acknowledged that (like giving warhorn regen so it has all 3.)
It really doesn’t matter how long or short the durations are for those boons, if we want them, we can have them.
Haha! “k*ttengen.” You sir, made my morning.

Took me a while to figure out where that came from.

Actually made me laugh out loud.

But no! What about the Synergy? (Trait in NM).
There has to be a synergy. Just like … I don’t know. Remorseless that makes all other minor traits viable. <chuckle>

That is a really, really, good idea. Cut the base cooldown in half to 15 secs and all the boon duration to 7.5 seconds to match. Or just sync it up to pet swap to make it easier for people to keep track of then. Having shorter boon duration would also be great synergy Remorseless since it’d be a guaranteed fury proc for every pet swap then.

The difference here is that Defy Pain trait is a passive proc, while this trait is stuck on the cooldown of another skill.
Yes the issue of visibility on cooldowns is not just one that should be raised with this skill. But I feel like this skill would be so easy to “enhance” the visibility of its cooldown without too much of an effort
Edit. Regarding the whole Idea of reducing the cooldown. I am at a point where I would be willing to meet in the middle. Increase pet cooldown to 25 seconds and reduce warhorn cooldown to 25 seconds too. that way we get a buff and a nerf. No harm done

idk…if you take away the very build specific Wilderness Knowledge, we don’t have a great deal of fury. Just useless warhorn Call of the wild, clarion bond, two handed training (greatsword only, so it barely counts), SotP, and furious grip. I would hardly call that pooping it out. Elementalist, thief, warrior, and revenant all have equal amounts or more fury, and guardian has a similar if not slightly less amount of fury.
so in total we have 6 ways to apply fury, but 2 of the ways are very build specific, and 1 of them is completely useless. I guess if you like Moa you can go ahead and count that, but I certainly would never use one.

Same goes for Regen, I don’t see how we have any more of it than other classes outside of a shout build. Windborne notes is an attempt to give us regen, not a fortification of the fact that we already have it. The trait is bad though, cuz warhorn blows (heh), and it doesn’t provide anything extra that a shout build doesn’t already do in spades.
so we have 1 heal that gives it (spring), that we can leap out of for more (no more double leap finisher though), and 4 traits that give it (one being useless)
no other utilities provide regen. No weapon skills provide regen. Fernhound is the only other real source, but again, not really a great pet choice
Gaurdian, Ele, and Mesmer have just as much if not more. revenant has a fair amount too

With clarion bond and Madking runes, warhorn is competing with more then just torch, dagger and axe. They really should just scrap clarion bond as even in its existing form it trivializes warhorn.

I use it for blasting smoke fields, because it’s our only ooc blast finisher.

pet swapping into a drake is nice too as they blast on first hit most times.
