More Group love for ranger after zerker nerf
You mean, compared with other ranger-builds, this build does dmg, yeah.
But compared with other classes, our power-dmg is ridiculous. (warrior, powernec, guardian, ele, thief, and I think even engineer can do better)
the problem is only 10% (for me) of the gw2 ranger play that build or the other meta build (30/25/0/15/0)

Nah. Groups will still not prefer us, regardless of spotter or w/e trait setup we have. PUGs still like stacking warriors. 100b to win, yo.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.

not true..yes ele/guard/thief deal more dmg in group line ups but with the ranger you can deal about the same dmg like a war
Pugs will never get past the war/guard/mesmer trifecta that they are accustomed to.
Find a steady group/guild that can appreciate a good ranger and be happy.
As a newer ranger desperately trying to find the right build, I would love to see these two meta builds you guys mentioned. Struggling to track them down on my own.

It’s 20/25/0/15/0 with the last 10 points spent in Marksmanship or Nature Magic.

This is the meta build and what I use. You can switch the Shortbow to dagger off-hand (extra evade), axe off-hand (reflect and dmg) or GS (Maul first in combat then switch to sword/horn, also mobility).
As you mentioned that there are 2 meta builds, I guess this is the second one.

Same build, different 10 trait points. This build gives more personal dps, the one above gives vuln stacking and easy trait swapping for skipping.

20/25/0/25 has:
Passives:
- good power and precision
- hits the major “increases damage by 5%/10% when…” minor traits
- gives the pet a copy of your buffs
Selected:
- Steady Focus gives 10% damage when endurance is full
- Pick between Spotter, Eagle Eye, and Piercing Arrows as the situation warrants
- Skirmishing traits are your choice, most go with Companion’s Might and Quick Draw
- Strength of Spirit gives 5% of vit to power
- Vigorous Spirits allows you to maximize frost spirit
30/25/0/15 is as above except:
- Gives up 5% extra damage when you have a buff
- You have to pick between Strength of Spirit or Vigorous Spirits
- Opening strikes are always criticals
- You can opt for Signet of the Beastmaster for a signet build
- Or you can load two of Spotter, Eagle Eye, and Piercing Arrows
If you’re new, I’d suggest experimenting with these, a bunker/condition build, a spirit build, and a bunker/BM build (well maybe not as much at higher levels, but it with Master’s Bond is nice while leveling). That’ll about cover all the ranger metas and give you a good idea which direction you want to take your ranger.
Marksman steady focus and spotter are always traited, no eagel eye or piercing arrow. PvE meta builds are melee based, so plz stop using useless bow traits.
skirmishing I + V to push pet dmg, quickdraw is not needed cause we use no bow, if their is a situation you can still swap the trait short (but no need in 98% from the pve content)
NM you always got the vigorous spirit 15 or 25 version.
if you play with 30 in marksman you play with remorseless, signet of beastmaster is only needed for skipping if you rly need it
15 in NM is a must quite honestly. The shared boons with pet is a big damage increase and you are taken for the frost spirit and spotter anyway.
