More variety in pet F2 skills
first off, dont include the hall of monuments pets, they have the same skills and stats of the normal pet because it would be unfair to give the hom pets special stats. the hom pets include white raven, black moa, black widow, and rainbow jellyfish
as for the boars, i completely agree, or at least give them a useful skill
The HoM pets have the same skills as non-HoM counterparts to keep the game balanced for everyone.
Also, the 4 boars appear to have the same skill, but each boar has a different set of items they can forage. One forages damage items, one forages control items, etc. The tooltip does not include this.

ah, did not know that about the boars, i still think the active is under powered though
@Delven with the siamoth I can get an item that stealths me, blinding all nearby enemies, as well as an item that gives me all booms for 10 seconds…
Boar gives me a ranged 3 second daze, a Melee 2 sec stun and an aoe 3 second fear
Pig gives me a heal(~ 5k health) a 3 second invulnerablility and an aoe heal + regen field (~3k health)
Warthog gives me a 5 sec bleed, poison, weakness, a ranged poison field, and a ranged ethereal field that applies random cons and lets me shoot confusion onto people.
All of those have a 36s CD while traited into reduced F2s, the pet itself is on par with a bear in survivability (maybe a little less) and does a goo amount of damage, if anything their F2 is in need of a nerf, not a buff…

yikes, might have to actually try one of the boars more thoughly now

Yeah, I’m pretty surprised how many people just passed over them… The rock (daze) and bone (stun) are most common, and ANY ally can pick then up which is a god send in a structured group but greatly hinders you if some idiot grabs it in a Zerg…
PS: each item created lasts ~3min in the world, if you have 2 porcine pets then you can Chain their forages and get an army of items going, people who took advantage of that (like me) is probably why pets got slapped with the swapping CD while out of combat…

Dam when I tested I got the same items because I must have tested the same pet and wasn’t using condition items as it was different days….
Setting up on a node you could set up quite a bunker given a bit of time.

Finding skulls and plasma is one of the best things about the pigs. I just wish they had some variation and that the boar actually looked like the boar you charm and not like a warthog.

You do realize there are both Boar and Warthog pets yes? Cause I know my boar looks exactly like the boar I charmed…

I am aware of that. I tamed my boar at the Speldan camp in WvW. The animal was the forest boar that looks like the pet icon that doesn’t resemble the actual animal at all.
I agree with the OP completely. I also think it understandable that pets “of a kind” will have very similar skill sets. They really need to revamp the in game UI information about the pets because there really is none until you actually equip and call them to find out what each one’s stats are and what they “do”. Even then the special skills (like the example used above about boars and their forage) don’t give enough information for a ranger to make an informed choice of a pet for specific needs prior to engagement in combat. It would be nice to know the differences up front in the UI where all the charmed pets are shown.
I think F2’s are fine. Most of them are unique. A few could use a bit more variety (how about a Spider with an actual attack and not a buff? Or a porcine with something other than Forage, even if they are all different items). But on the whole, I’m fine with F2’s as they are.
What I want is other skills to become more unique among different pets. Having 3/4 attacks identical between pets is pretty boring. Actual different attacks would be great but at least a bit of different “flavor” between shared attacks could be added if not different attacks. Instead of all Devourer basic attacks firing 2 projectiles with a chance of poison, maybe one could be changed to no poison but higher damage and one could do guaranteed poison but lower damage.
Some different stats between different subpets of the same type would be nice too. One cat could have higher Precision, one could have higher Might, ect.
