I just got rocked by a ranger and his bird, leopard, wolf, and I think there was a lynx at one point lol. Seemed to be switching constantly and there was always more than one pet out at once. As soon as he stomped me all the other pets were gone and he ran off with just the wolf.

No there wasn’t another ranger around, just wondering if there is some sort of new “trick” I dont know about or what.

Was it 3 birds?

Was the wolf a hyena?

Rune of the Flock summons a bird for one attack, Rune of the Ogre summons a rock dog, the sylvari has a racial elite skill that can summon a sylvari hound, and on top of that you have the Rangers pets. That’s the most amount of pets you can have at once, as a Ranger.

Was this in WvW? Might’ve been an Ogre Whistle.

PS: Rune of Flocks bird swoops in, hits the person, and flys off, doesn’t stay around.

Yeah that accounts for the bird at least. No hyena, I dunno it was a super wierd experience all around, I couldn’t find him again to pay more attention.

I had that happen twice to me. I don’t remember which pets it were but I remember that I was pretty baffled when he attacked me with two pets. I’m sure those were no hyenas or sylvari wolf and neither hounds of balthazar and that other summoned strange wolf. Were two standard pets but I don’t remember which ones exactly. Once I killed him the pets were gone.
Since back then it didn’t happen to me any more.

Well the simple truth is you can’t have two pets out at the same time unless it’s the hyena who’s special skill is to summon a duplicate. Whatever you saw, it wasn’t two ranger pets out at the same time unless they belonged to two different rangers.

Well what is possible is that another ranger was trolling us – hiding far away and sending his pet on us. What made me wonder was that the second I finished him both pets were gone – absolutely at the same time.
I remember that because I was really looking at this because I was expecting a possible exploit.
But it is possible that there was a ranger somewhere sending the pet and just as the other ranger died he switched his pet. Absolutely possible

Rangers can have quite a few “pets” out at once if you have the right setup.
Normal pet
If normal pet is Hyena it can bring a friend
Pirate runes (and others) can summon pet bird that sticks around for quite a while
Hounds of Balthazar brings 2 more pets
Bird attack from horn can look like a pet

Other rune combos can have summons coming off of them too…

If you’re fighting a ranger geared like that it can look like he’s bringing an army…
