My gears sucks/Don't know what gear to get
Hi guys I’m a level 64 ranger
Then it doens’t matter. Get whatever you want. Leveling in PvE is kitten easy. If you’re having issues consider that it’s probably something about your core gameplay that’s lacking. When you get to lvl 80 you can decide on a build and appropriate gear (which depends on your build). Till then, whatever you find works.
Personally, having leveled all but 2 classes to 80 and fully geared, I’d say the best gear is power/precision based. Once you get to the level where you can wear triple stats gear, either berserker’s (Power/prec/crit damage) or Knight’s (power/prec/toughness) are your best friends. But that’s just my personal preference and, honestly, as long as you keep it somewhere within your level, whatever you get works.
Condition damage for the Ranger mainly comes from traps, shortbow, and torch or dagger. The Lynx is a great condition damage pet (especially with the Rending Attacks trait), and spiders can give you some more poison and ranged attacks.

I have 5 sets of gear for my ranger representing builds for different scenarios. When you hit 80 you will likely start that accumulation.
If I had it to do over again, I would basically keep my gear within 5 levels of my character level and then try out all the weapon sets and utility skills to find those that feel best (I am not saying produce the best results) to me as I wander around the maps leveling up on the easy stuff.
Once you hit 80 you might have found your preferred weapon sets; based on that knowledge you will know whether to move toward a direct damage or condition damage build.
Visit http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/ranger/ and start making your own build based on your preferences.
Always look at this forum as there are some very knowledgable folks providing their opinions. Take note and find your own path.
And you can always message us here or in game.
Good luck on your never-ending quest.
Thanks for the advice. I guess I’ll continue to scavange till level 80. Is there anywhere I can veiw all the available level 80 gear and kitten my options?

You can use a build editor like GW2Skills (don’t forget to change it from PvP to PvE/WvW mode).
You can
1.
Get full berserker (power/precision/crit) with glass cannon build with piercing arrows for the ‘aoe’ and maybe slap on Sigil of Fire for some more aoe. You will miss the aoe a trapper offers when you face 20 or so enemies
2.
Get full rampager or carrion for even more cond damage and play with a trapper build. Acquire the trait in skirmishing that makes the traps bigger and the one that doubles their strength. You will miss the high single target damage while roaming in pve.
Basically, killing a group of 5 with zerker gear is slower than trapper, but killing enemies one by one is faster with the zerker gear.
With the zerker gear, you should be able to kill most normal enemies before you/it reaches you while you are running forward.
You can also (I have no experience in this) boost the pet instead.
If you’re going to WvW do not get berserker or rampager!! Go for a combination of carrion and rabid if you want to do condition damage or soldier for anything else.

I’d like to add that I was talking about PvE and not WvW, nor PvP
if you’re leveling, use a torch
