No additional notes from the devs about rangers after they gathered all of this feedback from the community is just about the most depressing and disheartening thing that has happened to the class for me thus far.

The earliest I would have logged back in to the game would have been on December 10th. But after seeing that the preview is most likely going to be the only big changes made on the 10th means I won’t even be logging into this game again until probably next year some time.

I’ll be lurking around still from time to time to see if maybe the devs change their mind and give the class a little more attention. But besides that, this is pretty much an indefinite hiatus from the game for me.

For those of you that stick around, I applaud you. You have an incredible amount of patience for a game that still plays like its in beta, and whose updates suggest it won’t be leaving beta any time soon.

Well, I think devs are starting to test ranger more seriously, they are testing sword and great sword right now ( they have given up on pet man, too much work for them imo ), that’s a start, obviously since ranger is most used in spvp and pve it not a big concern for them how it performs in WvW.

Please devs, fix our pet mechanic ! other than that the ranger is a good roamer, second only to confusion engi.

A personal note : to play a good ranger you must disable auto attack and auto targetting, ofc you also need the right build, its been a while since I lost a match ranger vs ranger, and that’s because most ranger use LB for roaming without a right build.

I sometimes use a similar one but, with S/T + SB.

Or try an evasive ranger, it’s hard to play but rewarding ( one time I stomped a guy inside a 6 man group and managed to escape )

I don’t even see the point of feedback when it doesn’t amount to anything. The issues with the ranger are obvious, feedback is plentiful, yet they take months to address the most obvious issues.

I’ve been frequently lurking these forums for the past year and post whenever I see fit, but all the feedback given here seems meaningless. There is no valuable discussion from the developers, they haven’t made anything deeper than common sense changes based on our feedback, and they don’t seem to understand the core issues with the ranger or how to address them.

This latest update is evidence of that. They seem very willing to throw out their ideas but they have not commented on our suggestions and have made no changes to their update plans.

Can’t blame you. This class has no real focus or direction right now and these changes just further prove that. For a patch that was supposed to help power Rangers out, next to nothing was done for them. All they did was make LB slightly more viable for damage over shortbow.

We still have no movement on our horribly designed pet mechanics. We still need 30pts in a tree to make the vast majority of our utility skills worth slotting. We still have very obvious issues with this class going completley ignored.

I’ve asked for months and I’ll ask again… ANet needs to tell us what direction they want to take this class. It has poor burst, poor ae, poor utility, poor condition coverage, poor condition spread, and pets that are more of a hindrance than a benefit to the class. What is this class supposed to do? And how have we gone a year without doing it?

No vision and no courage to revamp some aspects of this prof. Devs haven’t a clue about what the real issues are. For example, spirits and Shouts don’t need tweaks. They need a redesign. Pets need to be responsive. These are the priorities. None of the proposed changes will help the ranger. Not sure who’s responsible for lack of meaningful changes, maybe JP? But it’s really got the ranger community down with the exception of a few fanboys.

Jroh I’m also waiting for a reason to log back in after 2 months of absence. Maybe next year
