Natural healing only healing pet
ok im assuming before it was a ’’bug’’ that the player would get heals too , i just looked again and the extra ticking was regen not the trait.
I don’t remember them ever saying the ranger was supposed to get healing from the trait, as far as we know it could have just been a bug that was left in the game for 3 years.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love for this trait to be reverted. The only way I would ever consider taking it over the other traits is if it affected the ranger as well, but more than anything I would just like to see a dev pop in and say whether it is working as intended or not.
its barly working at all as it is and from what I have noticed it doesnt even always heal the pet
i run this on my pets, and i definitely notice it ticking, and it is ticking reliably, it’s just the green numbers don’t always show up, but the heal is actually happening. Also, this trait never said anything about healing the ranger even after they went through and made all our tooltips and traits more clear on what they were supposed to do, so i assumed that was always a bug of some sort.
Not to mention, it very likely could have been intended, but it was nerfed in order to make it a master trait or something. I never ran it for the self regen to begin with because it was always extremely minor (like 120hp every 3 seconds or so). I’m just happy it also gives my pets healing power for the one heal i run on them…

Exactly, this trait was never designed to heal the Ranger.
If it is not healing the Ranger, it’s working as intended.

Did they ever actually say that? I know the tool tip never said anything about healing the ranger but the tool tips in this game are pretty unreliable.

It’s a trait that never did it in the 1st place. Never said it should and only got merged with pet getting more Healing Power.
That’s it. A trait that never did this has no reason to start doing it without even saying so.

Except it did also heal the ranger… It worked that way for years. The pet would get regen every second and the ranger would get it every 3 seconds.

Well, it’s true I haven’t really checked the combat log or pay attention to what heals me periodically. But I’m pretty sure I don’t remember the green numbers apart from regeneration.
If that’s so, this would be my bad.

Yeah it’s one of those things you had to know about since the tool tip didn’t mention it and since it only ticked every 3 seconds in combat. It was very easy to miss.
Honestly I don’t see a reason not to add it back. The heal was pretty weak, it came out to about 60hp a sec. Even for regen builds it wouldn’t be worth taking over wilting strikes but at least people might consider using it.
To make this trait more appealing, I think they should add something like “Incoming conditions pets receive are reduced by 33%”

Aye, if it is just the pet gaining some regen, it needs something else to make it worth taking in any build specifically.

the old version healed the ranger but this new and appearantly IMRPOVED version doesnt it ONLY heals the pet and isnt meant to heal the Ranger anymore that part was removed
I instantly started using it after the fix, I like it on any build that uses BM and squishy pets but doesn’t have signet of the wild, the healing on the ranger it had before was like our version of warriors adrenal health only weaker for us but stronger for pet it’s not a big deal but would be nice to have again though.
I don’t get why they had to remove the Ranger portion of the heal, they could have left that for sure and it would not be OP in the slightest.
If it were me, I would have made it like Companionship from GW1.
Natural Healing; “If you have less Health than your pet, you gain 125 Health per second. If your pet has less Health than you, it gains 1% total health per second.”

I really like that idea just not the % idea it might get a little op

I don’t know, it sounds pretty fair to me. It won’t save the pet if it’s focused but it should help it survive cleave/aoe
1% per second takes 1 minute and 40 seconds to heal up to 100%.
1% per second takes 1 minute and 40 seconds to heal up to 100%.
IKR, not OP at all. 125 health per second takes over 6 minutes to heal a bear to 100%.

It’s far more effective just to swap pets and gain a full hp bar. With a BM build, your swap interval is 16 seconds. So the trait will only give your pet 2000 hp in that time. A squishy cat has about 28k hp, so this represents only about a 7% increase in survivability, assuming the pet was damaged the moment it was swapped in (so it can start regenerating) and it never got back to 100% hp during those 16 seconds..

Yeah, this trait is in serious need of help. For comparison, the adept-level mesmer trait gives phantasms 20% more hp and gives them retaliation. The gradmaster-level trait gives them AOE regen of 130 hp/sec (so up to 390 hp/sec with 3 phantasms).
You could make it give 125 hp/sec to the pet, ranger, and AOE to up to 5 allies, and I still wouldn’t consider it overpowered.
