Hi, so I just got to 80 a few days ago but not played yet as I’ve been trying to find a guide that shows me the traits/skills/stats I should use, but having no luck so I was wondering if someone here could help me.

for PvE I just want anything to do with a shortbow, its the only weapon I enjoy using, longbow has too slow of an attack speed for me.

PvP the same really, anything to do with shortbow. Thanks.

You should look into swords/dagger best weapon in gw2

I don’t enjoy them though, which is what this game is for. I’m not going to use a weapon just because its best if I don’t enjoy using it, shortbow is the only I even remotely like.

Shortbow/greatsword no doubt. Please, look at the “new to rangers looking for guides” sticky for other information. A shortbow/greatsword trap (or bleed) build would probably be good for dungeons and wvw, if you want one for both, that’s decent. It’s tough because ppl want zerker in pve and thats awfully glassy in wvw.

Eeryone has a different playstyle too. I’d recommend testing with rares and seeing what you like. But ya greatsword and shortbow no doubt, especially for a new player. Over time you will learn to love sword/dagger or sword warhorn or sword torch! All good in various build
