Needing some help with a WvW build

The ranger class itself has lower DPS in terms of crit output/damage in relation to other classes. I would suggest that you switch some of your gear E.g your armour for knights as you would keep ur crit chance up with decent crit damage whilst gaining a chunk of tougness which will help ya survive longer :P

another thing is to run around in full zerker with the commander/zergs so you dont get instagibbed by roamers. you can try bunker builds(i dont know any builds sadly) and roam but the nerfs the ranger community has received was really harsh. all these nerfs were cause of sPvP and until the company starts splitting balance of pvp/wvw/pve. nerfs will keep hurting us all.

Yea I was starting to think the problem was my gear, I’ll try some other stats see how it goes.

Ok I smacked on some knights gear and you’re right, I was able to keep a lot of my dmg up but was also able to take melee hits for a change. Even took a thief for a journey halfway across the BL map. Thanks for the suggestion.

for going it alone in wvw, you need to find your own “sweet spot” for defense and offense states, knights gear is a good start (i use rabid), you could also throw on some clerics gear as well. My armor, weapons and trinkets are a mix of Knight’s, Rabid Apoth and clerics
Any build i make for my self always has at least 20 in WS the 15 trait is a life saver, and there are some good traits to help you stay alive in there as well; such as “Shared Anquish”, “Wilderness Knowledge”, “Oakheart Salve” and “Hide in Plain Sight”
If you happen to be a charr, this build I made actually works fairly well with the longbow due to the high amount of movement.
Here is how you play it. Start out at range (obviously), and as soon as they pop a gap closer or get within 600 units hit the Hidden Pistol skill or Knockback depending on if they have stability or not. Save Lightning reflexes for emergencies as the cooldown is pretty long. If you manage to land some pet cc, pop the elite and burst. If you aren’t a charr, good luck with a lb build that works. You lack too much mobility to really do anything with the longbow in most other builds.
