both builds have a large weakness uptime and a 9% damage boost while buffed with boons , 5% damage boost at all times while performing normal rotations without plasma.
has hard CC , condis , Healing prevention/reduction.

Still very enjoyable. Tanky for sure, i never had any prob with conditions and with burst..
Many evades and with clever use of the weapon swap make this build sometimes very fun.. You gonna press a lot of keys and im loving it.
Still the dmg is kinda low, not enough condis not enough burst..Its gonna take forever to kill other tanky classes..
Ranger is kinda low nowdays
“Beastly Arrows”
Full zerker travelers LB/GS. Been running this in both roaming WvW and mid tier ranked SPvP since the trait revamp. It’s a durable 1v1 build that can to an extent hold its own on point as long as you dont misuse LB #3 and #4. Due to better trait synergies it can handle pressure better than the old glassbow which this build draw similarities to. I pick zerker amulet as the power longbow variant isnt made to take too many hits in the first place, so I take raw damage over the little extra healthpool marauder provides (pluss troll unguent is a heal over time).
Key pointers is the synergy in survival skills granting fury and removing 2 conditions, among with 15 ICD taunt on birds F2 for offensive/defensive use. While it is a power build it also has a good upkeep of conditions to apply such as poison, vuln, blind, weakness.
Cons: Struggles with competent s/f and d/d (cele) ele, and condi mesmer if they outlast your burst. Birds can die fast if not managed.

I have fire and air…. Unless you mean two on crit sigils won’t work? unless they changed that recently I’m pretty sure they still work together just fine.

that WvW survival build finally solved the issue i had with lightning reflexes not working (cause frost/cripple ruins it) but now it removes them =D
and the build is surprisingly effective
Its a remorseless based build focused amping up maul or path of scars. It relies on Valkyrie armor for an increase in ferocity. The build has plenty of hp, mobility, condi removal and utility as well as a whopping 242% crit damage. It additionally has really good crit % upkeep between spotter and furry keeping it at 60%(70% if a target is running away) The only thing I seem to struggle with is mesmers, but that seems to be common with every class atm.
So far my highest crit is 16.9k on theif. I amyet to find a mes or ele or nec that would let me hit them to see highest damage. If my math is correct with bloodlust sigil stacks up its possible for 21k on glass targets.
I was going to make a video, but there are a lot of better ranger players than me, and most of the video would be boring one shots. So I’ll leave it up to someone else to come up with one.

that image was taken two patches ago last year april i think before the major feature patch.
in a Random Pvp arena with the full contributing effects signet of the hunt, Signet of the wild , 25 Vunrability and a build with the maximum amount of damage % increases into a single maul vs a target that was so Glassy it wasn’t even paper.
its not even a image i take Seriously anymore because its no longer possible.
That was done without the new Remorseless too, which would have been an additional 25%. But I believe it was SoTW, AoO, as much crit damage as possible before the ferocity nerf with Sigil of Intel to guarantee a crit. It was in PvP vs a light armor. A lot more damage is possible in WvW vs an uplevel with the new Remorseless, need to test the maximum for sure

I have seen a screen of over 45k Maul, I couldn’t find that one though, 37k had to do. I believe more is possible now since in fact more crit damage is possible and we have the additional +25% from Remorseless.
A variant to Remorseless Cavalier WvW build.
Uses Nature Magic for boon spam while keeping all the fun of a normal Remorseless build.
Notable changes:
- Nature Magic for boon share between pets. With the amount of boons in wvw, you can really make yourself and your pets pretty beefy. +1% damage per boon plus increased boon duration.
- Warhorn for more boons
- jungle stalker + red moa for permanent 5 might and fury to yourself and allies.
Build options:
- Runes of Exuberance, Wurm, Evasion, etc instead of Hoelbrak
- Invigorating Bond instead of Protective Ward if you want the healing
- Evasive Purity over Windborn Notes if you want the cleanse over regen and CD reduction
- I guess if you really wanted you could mix Cleric+Magi/Soldiers and Water runes (combined with healing focused traits) for a very supportive role.

According to my math, 33k is our threashold. Unless there is some other buff/multiplier I am unaware of.
Edit: it’s prob more likely 34-5k as I forgot about ascended armor vs exotic. Still realistically it would be unlikely to ever hit that high.

I chop and change builds a lot depending on my mood.
So here is a list of the builds i have been running since patch in wvw roaming
Glassbow nothing to see here similar to others
Apothcary bm bunker pure duelist build almost un-killable (i prefer a/t-s/d for wvw and a/d-s/t for spvp) abit slow around the map and slow at soloing camps
cele bm similar to the apoth bunker but with a bit more punch, abit quicker around the map and solo camps faster, acceptable 1v1 ability, can use shortbow as well. im using this or the apoth build in pvp at them moment
sinister shortbow very fun glassy build with the fastest camp clear of my builds (particularly if you use torch off-hand) I’m still working on this as i am not having as much success as i did before patch with it (I may drop NM for BM) can use Sinister, rampage , celestial or rabid.
duel melae cavalier/remorselessness another very fun versatile build to play with mixed success good solo build, good in small fights and ok in large fights very quick across the map, not the greatest for clearing camps due to the blind spam guards.
Front line zerger this is what in running in guild raids at the moment
My own version of stealth trapper for WvW roaming the main diffrence from the others I seen is I go into nature for the extra tanky trait and evasive purity rather than BM, it is also great with the boon duration combined with RaO making mightstacks kling on you forever for a crappaload of condition damage, geomancy+leech sigils are just made for eachother in a weaponswap build I find, the burst you can get is absurd clearing a camp of NPCs can take less than 5seconds if you gather the mobs up without getting the scouts blind, the 3rd utility slot is empty will be hunt while moving and swapped for something else if I have time to change it for combat.
I find this is probably the best roaming build you can have as a ranger for both killing power and survivability so far not even a small problem against 1-2 enemies but haven’t yet run into one of the horrid shatter mesmers (or any good players at all really but whatever) will be fun to see how well it holds up to them worst case you can always run in stealth I suppose.

Axe/Axe + Torch . Tons of conditions, fire fields, whirl and projectile finishers, traps, AOE.
Start with Splitblade and Throw Torch from a distance. When you get near the enemy, Bonfire or Flame Trap. Then switch to off-hand axe for whirl finisher. Axe #1, 2, and 4 for projectile finishers.
Maximize Condition Damage and Precision. i.e. Sinister, Rabid, Ravaging, Rampager.

Wanted to chime in and add my ‘Dangerous Celestial Melee’ build.
Basically, the build shines when Most Dangerous Game kicks in. You’ll hit 10 stacks of Might which will bring you up to 2200 Power along with a constant 62% crit chance and 205% crit damage. But you’ll still be tough to bring down with 3k armor 815 healing power. over 900 condi damage to help whittle down your opponents health.

I chose the sigils when I was running rabid but I could see air working.

Ah, yeah sorry, I missed the Krait duration. With hidden barbs and Rabid/Krait, Earth is the better. If you run with Celestial/Krait, Air/Earth is about the same. Total damage wise.

Burning Beastmastery.
desgin Hitting hard +1 node attacker last one to battle first to leave.
can Sub Feline out for Raven(blinds) or Eagle(additional bleeds) both pets are high crits will proc a lot of bleeds while buffed with quickness after every pet swap.
Quickness instead of Taunt goes well with Axe AA to build up pet damage and it also increases the pets Bleed damage.
with Rampager amulet + undead runes this build can hit 2.2k condi damage after 4 kills with high crits every bounce will stack double on the pet it will maintain the pet around 20stacks of might after 3 full AA bounces or hitting a total of 6 times .
the Regen on the furn wolf has been added to help you Survive low condi ticks with quickness there is no delay on the f2 also speeds up the KD synergiing with your Bonfire you can quickly chain combo bonfire with nearly no chance of being interrupted unless it is fear then Shared anguish will kick in and stop that.
Sun spirit is there for only one reason placing this spirit on ether higher ground or off to the side will allow all your Axe AA’s and chills and other dagger attacks to apply burning which bounces it will scale the damage up 2x fold.
dagger 4 is enough poison to help sustain the foes hp for the kill.
while using the quickness pet swap don’t use the Felines F2 right away let the quickness close the gap first apply a burst of bleeds from compainions might , then apply the F2 while the target runs or kites away that way you can leap the cat through your bonfire combo to gain a fire aura granting it max might since you’ll only need 5 more on average for the pet to be maxed out.
Regen furn wolf+heal as one and SoR with Purity + EB will be more than enough to maintain condis on both pet and user.
the longer the fight the more might the more condi powerful you get and the stronger your pet gets , the quickness on swap and the Axe AA’s with the combos i mentioned will allow Fast Hard Condi burst vs Multipul foes for quick +1 finishing as you arrive to the node , the sun spirit allows Blinds and a additional burn if the bonfire fails or you get port attacked by a stealth / sneak attack prepair the spirit and stand near it to prevent the sneak damage then lead into a F2 quickness combo and weaken them.
Updated Previous Roaming build. To fit your naming scheme its a Zerk/Valkyrie Survival/Remorseless hybrid build.
Swapped muddy terrain for SoW for more immobilize(3 now) +an extra cleanse. Having muddy terrain allows me to drop axe, as there are plenty of ways to set up maul without path of scars. Swapped axe for dagger for more evades which nets more vigor and some condi pressure; mainly poison to prevent healing. SoW is still available via enlargement, so the high hits ares still potentially there. Still has high spike damage(10-12k mauls without SoW up), medium survivability with larger health pool, lots of mobility, lots of vigor/dodge potential and tones of condi cleanse. Spotter and Strider’s Defense can be swapped if group needs the precision boost.
Plate of orrian steak fritters is the cheaper food option and it works well; leaving the build around 24k hp and 240% crit damage. Bow of sweet and spicy butternut squash pushes the the crit damage % up to 245 but losses out on some hp.
I’ve had a lot of fun with this build so far this week; picking out golems and locking them down.

Made a variation of the longbowbuild I made before this is more active and more damage but got just as good survivability, it’s abit more squishy against bursty powerbuilds but not all that much and it’s better against getting condibombed I really like it and it can swiftly be tweaked slightly depending on what you are up against, for instance if there isn’t much condition you can swap renewal for stone and if you prefer a shorter cd go brutish seals, but this base setup is pretty nice with condition removal on all utility skills including elite, 2 of them pretty much full clears, 2 stunbreakers and some good cc in imobs, you can use spider/dog to your liking and of course wolf or that is what I do anyway.
also don’t get fooled by the low critchance this has permanent fury so it’s just over 30% nothing to brag about but it’s enough I found to still feel like it outdamages marauder that I had before in the huge crits it gets.

Have been trying to make something with NV for a while, just never seemed good with anything, this seems better. What do you all think?
I really like the idea behind this, but it severely lacks damage and there is no invuln. maybe if/when spirit actives and passives are buffed by 200%, it would be interesting. right now spirits are sad pandas.
I think traps right now would be more interesting as “support”. celestial traps?

both of mine work every day, top mmr bracket. the key right now is to not use amulets other than valk and celestial. theyre the only ones that give us enough damage and survivability in the current state of the game. unfortunately, none of the other vitality-less ammies work either. it’s tricky being a ranger now.

I’ve lost some spike and I definitely don’t like fighting condi specs solo (lack of sigil of cleansing really hurts compared to wvw) but now I can actually dive into a mid furball and not get vaporized.
I just haven’t been successful with any vit-less ammies in spvp. I was still getting popped for 80% of my HP at 3k armour by a single combo. with high vit, at least you have a nice buffer to shrug off the burn spam.

Yeah, I like the idea behind it too, but spirits are too meh for it to be great. If they get a buff along with NV, it could be good. When looking at the editor, make sure you add +10 might as it can maintain that amount pretty easily if there are two targets. But yeah, theory crafting at its best…. Have you tested it?

If only certain builds work, they are broken professions and game types.

If it works, sure.
Couple of points, Striders Defense doesn’t affect axe attacks, perhaps Spotter would be better in that tier. Also, Natural Healing is bugged atm and is not healing properly.

- Quick Draw (SK GM) is currently bugged and uses the base, untraited weapon skill cooldown. I’d swap Strider’s Defense for Hidden Barbs or Spotter.
- Likewise I’d swap Honed Axes (BM GM) for Beastly Warden, Axe does ~1/3 of the direct DPS of sword, the ferocity bonus on it is utterly pointless.
- Natural Healing (BM Master) is currently bugged and gives 189hp every 3 seconds on the pet instead of every 1 – I suggest Wilting Strike to for some decent weakness uptime on your enemies.
- You could go full-tank and swap Skirmishing for Nature Magic. More protection, more weakness, more regen, vigor on pet swap, healing pet swap …

Honestly main reason for axe was might, range, and the available chill. Granted it could be switched all together.
If going to wilting strike and a more condi/boon oriented spec with beast mastery settler’s would probably be a more viable amulet then wouldn’t?

I’m surviving just as long in rabid as I was in celestial for trap ranger.
The knockdown on spike trap is like the best survival utility we have now…

I tried this with all the diffrent amulets I found crusader to be the one I liked best, might be worth trying for you aswell I feel it’s got great burst still and also high survivability making extra use of the perma regen from healing spring with the healing power.
