@Ouspensky +1 on pet armor, that is something I’d spend gemstore money to have even if it was just cosmetic.

As to adding new pets – well for those who love pets, added choices are all fun. “Collect ’em all” rigt? But personally I’d love to see whatever resources Anet has to put on pets to be spent improving pet behaviors – notably towards survivability. I’d love to see my basic wolf act more like a real wolf – they do not fight a target head-on / non-stop, they circle and dart in when the target is facing the other way, drawing aggro to create openings for pack members. I’d give up a good bit of pet DPS from “straight up fighting” to have my pet survive longer. (Yes, I cycle F1 attack and F3 disengage to manually-manage this process, but some degree of that being autonomous would, at least to me, be a nice improvement.)

I can imagine snakes divided into 2 groups

poisonous ones: (king)cobra, rattle snake, black mamba
underwater: seasnake (which no doubt have more species too)
These inflict poison and maybe bleeding or blindness to the enemy.

constrictor snakes: boa constrictor, python,
underwater: anaconda
These inflict immobilize and maybe confusion to the enemy.

I imagine fear can be added as well to certain snakes

Currently each family has 4 or 5 pets right? So I think it’ll be easier to make 1 group of snakes. 2 poisonous ones and 2 constrictors, which both have an underwater-species and maybe add 1 to one another to have 5 in total

I tried it in GW1 once, just to see if I could.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t!

Tried again in GW2, no luck.

And that Norn Heart with keeping the food away from hungry bunnies proves how dangerous a Bunny Pet would be.

But basically, I’d like to the ability to charm any animal I come across.

Let’s say I see said animal, I think, that might be a fun pet, so do a search on where to find the Juveniles to go and charm.

I want a raptor pet so bad, I’ve been asking for this since guildwars 1. I dont see why ogres can tame those but I can’t.

Okay everyone. I’ll be posting these in the Suggestions thread in the General Comments forum in a couple hours. Anymore requests need to be input before then for “officialness.” I’ll try to maintain these afterwards however if new pet ideas come up.

I want what the ogres have.

Every time I fight against an Ogre Hunter I can’t help but tell myself : I wish I had one of those guys with me too. Rockdog, Gryphon, Raptors… why do they have all the cool toys, I’d gladly trade in the pig for one of those.

The skins are there, the functionnality is there, wouldn’t be much work to add them in too.

I would absolutely love to be able to tame a raptor, rock dog, or griffin like the Ogres do. I can’t help but feel a little bit jealous. Sure, I love my Arctodus — but still…they have RAPTORS. :|

Bats… First and foremost, bats.

That said, I also want to tame one of those humpback whales. >_>
Or a Dolyak. <_<

Rollerbeetles if they ever show up again could be fun. Maybe some ghostly creatures too (Ghostly Ascalonian hunting dog? Alpha [Or whatever the ghost kitty in the ruins of Ashford is named]? etc…)

Beyond all that, Llamas, pangolins, and raptors come to mind…

Bats would be a nice addition. I would be happy to even purchase new or unique pets from the gem shop. I know there are a couple ones given for the Hall of Monuments (which is a nice touch), but it would be kind of fun to have some more “rare” pets released over time. And also rare pets that are fairly strong (like…DA BEAR).

I still REALLY want a black raptor. But I don’t want it to be so squishy in battle I wouldn’t be able to use it.

After we finish the personal storyline we should be able to charm Zhaitan =)

I’d love to see a couple of Octopus pets, I know Octopi aren’t in the game at the moment but a pet would really work well.

I’d have them with similar stats to the wolf, one of them would have an F2 skill to latch onto an enemy and cause Sink and the other would spray ink and cause blindness. (In the same way as the Ranger Harpoon Gun skill, spray ink and launch itself away)

You could also consider one that could stealth itself but I prefer the other two.

I’d like to see “Dire” versions of all pets. Whether it just be visual upgrades or actual stat and ability differences, the dire versions of pets could look at least bigger and meaner than normal pets. They could be hard-to-get-to pets (juveniles are only in certain parts of dungeons, or in areas you have to unlock via dynamic events).

Hell, or even make it a mini personal quest that lets you upgrade a single pet to “Dire” status. Just a random idea I’ve had in my head.

I too wouldn’t mind to see a “Dire” option for pets. Not huge or anything, but using Garm as a scale for wolves, yeah, about that much bigger =D

It’s been done before, but i wouldn’t even mind to see it done as a leveling mechanic on the pet itself. That way you play with a certain pet (or two) for enough XP and they get the OPTION to increase in size. Some people that play with birds etc would NOT want them larger and that is fine, but for those of us that do allow the pet to scale up.

If you want a stable full of Dire pets, you would have to level them up as well, lind of like you had to do pets in WoW back in the day.

If not this then a “Beastmaster” NPC that would scale one of our pets up would make me and Shadow happy =D

I am new to Guild Wars 2 but enjoy the ranger class and set out on my journey with a cat pet. I love Tigers so any shape of Tiger/Cat is good, as long as it is somewhat similar to the tiger stripe motif.

Plush griffon ranger pet edition…, if only! ;_______________;

I would like to see wind riders introduced, specifically the reef riders from Southsun as a true ranged DPS pet option (no control abilities like devourers or spiders, just damage options and a 1200 range on auto-attack and F2).

Sea Turtles
Griffons
Tigers
Dwarf Dragons(think Lockheed from Marvel comics)
Rhino
Mongoose or Badger
Giant Porcupine
I wish the pets had more toughness since i am one of those people who would rather take the hit than my pet so hopefully that is also something that may come out in a future patch. Love Rangers and love the game in total. Amazing job!
