New Pets in WvW
You can only tame those pets in the HoT maps (Bristleback in AB and Smokescale in TD).
For free only in PvP, PvE and WvW you need to tame them.

Oh, that does not sound good. I hate PVE. How much time do I need? An hour PVE I could possibly make.
An hour is more than enough time. Just run to the location and ignore enemies. You may want to google a map since the first time you run through the HoT maps you will probably get lost.

Hm, I guess that is difficult. So far I have 2% of the Map explored (PVP Map), nothing else. I have now checked the wiki, I must at least by 10 regions through until I get there. How is this possible in an hour?
You can run from one end of any map to other in like 5 minutes. I think there is a pet finding guide on this forum, although I haven’t looked at it. Just run to the location.
Just a matter of running there, not a huge effort. Get used to it though. If you want some of the other runes or armor stats, well, you will need to PvE some more. And more… And then a bit more.
Search on Runes of Durability as one example of HoT/A.Net forcing PvE upon people.

So, now, more than two hours later, I’m just in Silverwastes. Ok, no Druid in WvW. I have also still 5 other professions, for which I must not make PVE. ^^
It took me about 45 mins to run to get the smokescale/bristleback. Had a guildie who needed it, ask someone who has the WP and use one of the teleports (might cost some gems), and train.
Guildie did this at level 18 after porting to me.
I am australian so play odd times, worst case… send me a tell…
Well, it did not give me rest. The Bristleback I have now. Smokescale there are probably only when Easter and Christmas falls on a day, seems to be very complicated. But I’m confident. Altogether there were more than 10 hours PVE. Now I know again exactly why I hate it so.
