Hello!

I returned to GW2 after few years of break, I currently just hit 80 on my Ranger and had a few questions about gearing! I currently have ~200g that I can use for gearing my character! I am following a Condi ranger build!

1. Armor: Viper’s! I believe that I will need to farm for the Auric Basin to get the Insignia, currently using Rabid. This will also require Leather 400?

1.5 Weapon: I believe I should craft Exotic Viper’s Short Bow/Axe/Torch which requires Hunters 400 and Blacksmith 400.

2. Trinkets: Is it worth it to craft Exotic Vipers Trinkets + Rampager’s Back or skip and go for Ascended? The Trinkets provided by Laurel does not seem to be good for Condi Ranger.

3. Jewels: What is the best Jewel for Condi Ranger? I realized that this only applies to Exotic? Based on my research Exquisite Black Diamond seems to be the best?

4. Rune/Sigil: After reading many guides I think Krait -> Nightmare/Trapper is the best and Sigil I will be using Geomancy/Earth.

5. Crafting: Is there a point to level Crafting to 500? Is it only used for Ascended Armor/Weapon? Can I craft Ascended Trinkets/Back?

Don’t craft jeweling, it’s utterly useless consider how easy it is to get ascended jewelry.

Get your weapon crafting up to 500 though, ascended weapons are a big increase and it’s nice to not have to rely on random drops or whatever.

Eventually get your armor crafting up if you play the game long enough.

Thank you! That was what I was afraid of spending all that gold/time to craft trinkets/back, only to find out it is super easy to get the new Ascended Trinkets in HoT! I will research this Thanks!

Ascended trinkets are easy to get, but not Viper’s. I’ve looked for my own toons and it seems like they can’t be had for laurels, nor guild commendations, nor badges of honor, nor pristine fractal relics… Outside of raids, and LWS3 maps, is there any other source of ascended trinkets with Viper’s stats?

You don’t need more than 100% condi duration, so viper’s trinkets are not required. But LS maps make trinkets and backpieces really easy to get.

1. Viper Armor can be expensive, need a lot of Flax Seed, another option is Sinister.
1.5 Weapons – if you finish HoT you get to choose a Weapon with whatever stats you want, I chose an Exotic Viper Axe. Also if you finish the Weapon Collection for the Warrior you can get a Ascended Torch which I believe you can also get as Viper
2. Trinkets, Backpeice, Amulet, Rings etc… if you get all the Achievements in the last part of HoT you can choose a Viper Amulet, all the others just get from the new LS Maps as mentioned.
3. Jewels – I think the Black Diamond ones are the best for Condi? But I think you will want to fill them with Agony Resistance for Fractals.
