Hi everybody,

I’ve been playing Ranger for quite a while in PvE and I feel like Trying my luck in WvW. The thing is I’m not quite familiar with the best builds to run with.

I pretty much know that everybody should build he’s own build according to preferences and experiences but what I’m looking for is a starting build for Roaming. Once I try it out I can change some things if I feel like.

I’ve seen in some of your posts that the Tanky/Regen/Condition build is quite efficient in Roaming nowdays but I cannot find any recent version of this build. Could someone give one to me ?

Oh and please, I know a lot of you are unhappy about the previous patch but I don’t care, I just wanna play Ranger, nomatter what. So please link me some good Tanky regen condi build and you’ll make my day <3

I’m at work and can’t load a builder so can’t tell you the traits. They’re pretty self explanatory when you get started.

Best place to start is decide on condi vs power and use some karma to build a starter set of soldiers or rabid (I think it’s rabid on the karma vendors?). Once you get some badges and experience with what you want to do you can expand from there and adjust gear however you want. I wouldn’t start off by going full berserker or you’ll get frustrated pretty quick.

Also a good build, yea. I wouldn’t advocate dual bow though, but whatever floats your boat.

Also worth noting that bonfire will do 50k dmg, if they stay in it the whole time. So try to save the spider CC for when theyre inside it.

If youre looking for a tanky regen condi build, look at the sticky for Faux’s RRR build.

Thought I’d add in this as well. Dont become corrupted like the rest of the forums into thinking we suck. We don’t, and are actually in a pretty good spot right now, other than some pet issues.

Don’t roam as a zerker. Thieves will 2 shot you and warriors will eat you for lunch. And that’s all you really see roaming anymore is those two.

As a roamer you want to be able to escape. Wear celestial or rabid armor if you want to roam. Use immobilization (muddy terrain, jungle spider, and/or drakehound). Bring fire aoe (either the trap or the offhand torch) in case you encounter a thief. You can try sick em for stealthing targets too but that’s a little easier to get away with in a group setting. You’ll need removal to get away from immobilization and a stun break (or stability). you’ll want either traited signet of stone or protect me. Keep points in marks, skirm, and wilderness. As you work into groups, you’ll want to start shifting points to nature magic and beastmastery for thingS like vigor on swap or spirits. I hope that helps.

I’d be very interested in how you setup a 2 bow Power ranger. I see the SB as being more condition oriented and in zerker gear, would it really work?

I hate melee weapons (just do no real reason) so this is intriguing.

The roaming build I liked to use is 10/0/30/10/20 full apothecary gear.

I love how the OP specifically asks for tanky condition regen builds and all you guys give him power builds…

OP, here’s what you’re looking for:

Use settler’s/apothecary gear with undead runes
Use food and nourishment that boosts condition damage and condition duration
Traits 0/0/30/30/10
Grab traits associated with shouts, regen, and protection, get condition removal from wilderness survival
Use condition weapons, I prefer sword/torch and shortbow, but you could mix in axe and dagger to your liking
Use geomancy sigils (helps a lot)
For pets, use wolf + 1 other dog, cat, or bird
For skills, take troll’s unguent, signet of the wild, guard, lightning reflexes, and rampage as one

This build is very strong in 1v1 situations and takes camps even easier than most. Spam guard for continuous regen and swiftness. Use troll’s unguent proactively before you take too much damage. Swap constantly to proc geomancy sigils. Outlast your opponents as they melt from conditions. You will occasionally stalemate versus other bunker builds, but you’ll outlast anyone else. Break away with lightning reflexes and sword #2 if you need to escape.

If I was roaming in a 5 man group, I would run spirits instead. If I was zerg surfing, I would run full zerker longbow with 1500 range for mad deeps.

I would. You surely lack zerg disengage like Greatsword #3 into #4, but you perform 100% better. Shortbow is great when used with Power builds. One trait we pick affect both of our weapons in this build, you have cripple, great evade/small disengage, stun/daze on reduced cooldown + poison which help greatly vs. high sustain builds and strong (as for Ranger ofc ^^), sustain DPS via #1 with bonus bleed.
Build doesn’t utilize any signets, traps. You may switch your utilities based on situation, none of them is “core” of build.
Build requires some practice, but is very fun to play + totally wrecks those cheesy warriors, not allowing them to land a single hit if played right. Not to mention guardians

Ah, forgot to mention – it’s best when played when roaming, 1v1, 1v2 or small group roaming. It isn’t very sustain under hard pressure unless you master timing. Be sure to bring some good player who’ll peel if things go nasty and tell him to bring on-demand condi removals. Empathic Bond is great 1v1 or 1v2 but if you get immobilized and condibombed right after, It won’t be enough.
As always, keep maximum possible range! It helps alot, not only with melee, but also with semi-ranged! Remember, if you keep most classes, like Engineer or Necromancer with 900+ range, they will hardly do anything!
