Guild Wars 2

hi guys im new and i really find rangers the most fun atm but im kinda lost how to build my ranger. The one im after is maximizing utility with just enough damage to take down most opponents of course im not expecting op burst since i really love utility and range. The only things i can think of are using crits for damage or just maximizing condi damage but im still new so i dont know how good those are.And for pets i kinda dont like to rely on them since the control is very limited but if someone can teach me more about how to use them i might change my mind.

so yeah are crits / condi good? are there other builds im missing and how about pets is there a way to utilize them more effectively or i should just use them for added utility
or (since i see people on forums suggest it sometimes) i just reroll before its too late and go thief/engi although id rather not like just for utlra last resort stuff

I like a bleeding ranger. been a good farmer in orr and fun to run with in wvw. check the other thread here about krait runes. fun condition based build. use rampagers armor and weapons and then sigil of earth and agony on each bow (if u sb/lb) . continue with trinkets to your liking. bleed pet like lynx. or an aoe pet like a drake. but this profession has some nice different playtypes. traps. spirits etc. I just hit youtube and look at the recent build and gameplay videos and see what suits ur fancy

Personally I love running a beastmaster build but the great thing about this game is you can play with a build that suits you. There are a number of posts up with people offering advice on builds, and trait resets are free now I believe so you can experiment and find what fits with you. Only thing at the moment is since the patch they broke the pets and a number of them are dying quicker or not holding aggro, hopefully they will get this fixed soon.

yes after update. trait resets are free. so expirement to your hearts content. also go into pvp and then expirement with the runes and sigils before you spend money for them in pve wvw. have fun

For pets try jungle spider. It has decent damag (at range too, which means more reliable hits) and lots of immobilize. Pair it with wolf for the fear. For gear, if you have laurels get berserker amulet and rings (just mind that you cannot use 2 of a kind, so they need different slots), and get berserker ruby earrings. You can get full rabid armor for karma. You can use runes of speed, which will allow you to run 3 actual utilities.
