Guild Wars 2

After playing a Mesmer and Warrior, I decided to finally roll a Ranger for my next character. I finally remember my Guild Wars 1 information so I was able to get all of the rewards including the neat looking Ranger pets. (image attached) Since my Mesmer was a male sylvari, I decided to make my ranger a female sylvari for something different as I felt they were the best racial choice for taming the wild.

She’s only about level 10 now, but it’s actually a really fun class to play. I’ve heard of all the topics regarding how rangers are one of the more mundane classes, but I like the play style so far. My ranger was too pretty so I gave her a disgusting giant spider for a best friend named Margeret lol

I’am glad you’re enjoying the profession, been on my Ranger since BWE2…yes I have leveled the War, Guard, & Necro but always seem to head back to my Ranger. Not sure about mundane, just that the pet mechanic is pretty broken this far out after release in many aspects of the game (leveling pve you will not see this).

But overall I still hold an optimistic view of the Ranger, at the end of the day it’s what you think is fun =).

I’ve considered making a necro too as it’s the class I used to like the most in GW1 xD. I heard they’re sorda o nthe same boat as rangers in that they aren’t very pvp viable, but like you said, fun factor!

Necro is not even pve oriented. Most necro build is based around condi. In dungeon, condi deal the least damage to boss as it can’t burst due to no crit. I have not seen power-crit oriented in my dungeon run yet so yeah maybe just me.

Anyway I am more jealous of white raven then the black widow. T.T

Actually, I think you’ll find rangers and necros do much better in PvP than in dungeons or WvW.

In open world PvE though, rangers are incredibly easy and the pets are quite helpful. My suggestion is to not get lazy with your pets. Learn to swap them and reposition them now so you’ll have developed the habit when you start to dungeon.

My suggestion would be to not bound yourself to certain pets,
since names are not being saved (yet we ask for it since release).
You’ll find yourself switching pets a lot, depending on situation if you want to be competitive and helpful.

My Necro is also in my favorites to play. As far as pvp goes the Necro is pretty boss in spvp & wvw, very fun pvp class. Rangers do pretty well in pvp too outside of a zerg.

I would play these two classes over many others when it comes to pvp actually.

It’s funny because I’ve been getting that a lot since I switch between the spider and ranger with my character. I thought the black widow would be the eye candy, but everyone wants the raven or moa xD
