I read somewhere on another thread about someone suggesting that the Ranger class be given access to a staff to enhance the woodsman/warden/druid feel of the class. I thought this was an interesting idea so this is my take on it.

Staff, a hybrid martial/magical weapon that focuses on far-reaching melee strikes and cc.

1: Swing>Evasive Swing>Enfeebling Jab Range: 180 3rd strike causes1s of Weakness
Basic attack that functions like the Greatsword.

2: Lightning Strike: Range: 600 Cast: 3/4s Recharge 15s.
Strike target and nearby foes, causing weakness and cripple.

3: Encroaching Earth: Instant Cast version of Churning Earth w/o the bleed.

4: Whirling Strike Range: 180
Basically Whirling Defense but w/o the vulnerability.

5: Ankle Sweep: Range: 180 Cast: 1/2s Recharge 25s
Knocks down enemies hit. Pet gains fury. If hit from behind causes daze.

You’re probably better off posting this in the actual staff thread than making a new post.

i really like the idea of the staff, i think you have the wrong idea on some of the skills though. lightning and earth are elementalist magics, a staff for the druid would should have more animal-spirits and manipulating plant life. here are some skills i would like to see on the staff:

- placing a thorn bush around the ranger, crippling and bleeding nearby enemies for a time
– summon a spirit bore behind your opponent which will knock your opponents down in a line

some other ideas i like would be if one of the staffs skills were linked to the pet that you were using, so having a bird would use a blinding spirit attack on the staff, while a spider pet would have a poisoning spirit effect ect.

it would also be cool if during one of the whirling attacks, if ranged attacks were reflected to random nearby enemies

just my 2 cents, love the staff idea myself
