Ok guys, we all know there’s a problem with the pets. I’m not going to list reasons, as I feel it has been discussed to death. So here’s my idea: We take away pets being most of our dps and change it to them granting us buffs.
Now it’s time for me to defend my idea. Ok, here goes. First and foremost, Rangers are pretty much known for having pets. The only problem is, they die more than Kenny on South Park. You can’t go a half hour without watching them get mangled. Currently, they make up roughly 40% of of our dps, which is entirely unacceptable for how quickly they are taken out of the fight. So what I’m suggesting is we make pets only 10 -15% (roughly) of our dps, while at the same time granting us buffs as long as they are out. We could also add the option to stow our pet and granting us 100% of our dps, however we’d lose the buff the pet gave us, which I believe is a fair tradeoff.
What kind of buffs do I mean? Well, honestly, I’m not sure because I’d probably make something horribly unbalanced. However, every pet would grant a unique buff, thus making the different variations of animals actually mean something, instead of just being skins that don’t mean much. So an example of what these could look like would be this; let’s use the Brown Bear, a pretty common pet. Whenever he is out, we could have a buff to our vitality or to our armor (not a choice, I just have two here as an example of what the buffs could be), seeing as the Brown Bear is one of the hardier pets. Another example could be the Eagle granting something like Swiftness or allowing our basic attacks to Bleed when he is out. We’d allow the pets to still be useful, but increase our dps and build diversity at the same time.
So I thought this up last night when I was pretty tired, and wanted to get feedback on it before I post it in the suggestions forums. What do people think?
