Guild Wars 2

So my main is a lvl 80 necro and I decided to roll a ranger next. He is lvl 12 atm. My question is besides my longbow should I have a melee weapon to swap to or could I run an axe/wh or axe/ torch off hand set up? I want to have a ranged toon since my necro is melee only really but I don’t want to kitten myself buy only being ranged when melee is the better option. Thanks for any and all responses.

It will probably give you a lot of insight as a new ranger. Longbow isn’t that ideal of a weapon really in a lot of ways.

But give that a watch, I think it will be worth your time.

To add to your question, right now with where rangers are for ranged damage your best bet is Short Bow. Sword/x is in a pretty good spot too right now. For “x” a Warhorn would probably be ideal usually, especially while leveling.

In the end you should play what’s fun. Longbow can work but it’s not really optimal right now.

Same for Axe, it could be better even though I am using that in my current build that I run. I run an Axe/Torch Condi based build.

Yeah I was hoping with the increase to mid range lb it might be better. I just really enjoy the swap to axe/torch! Feel like Indiana Jones Maybe I can run that condition build too.

Ranged toon → Warrior with lb

Nah I’m good on warrior with lb. I have a Guardian already in the 20s so I want a medium class. Ranger will be my next 80. I’m loving it so far!

Don’t pigeon hole yourself into a weapon set while levelling. Change up every so often to relieve the boredom of watching the same animations.

This was the only way I was able to finally get at least one Ranger to 80. I deleted 1 at level 30 and left my eventual 80 there for a few weeks. Now I have 2 80 Rangers in my stable of 80s. Boredom can kill your momentum.
