New - seeking build advice
This is a great multi purpose build for open wvw. You can do everything with it.
Since he asked for a high mobility build i’d rather recommend staff + gs or s/x as weapons and bm/traited shouts for swiftness (if warhorn is not taken – with wh the ws/nm/druid build is fine, but it might lack some dmg without lb).

My main build is a variation of of shouts GS+Staff, and in most cases the long leaps from the weapons wont help you to escape outnumbered situations. You cant out run a theif and some other classes also can get to you. The LB 3+ qz+LR + sword probably provide better mobililty when mobility is most needed. Also horn + smoke field is an extra stealth in which with staff you need to sacrafise your staff movement skill to get. So like I saied, the posted build provides the great tools for open WvW, mobility included.
Thx guys – I just watched the Shout Trooper vid that seemed pretty versatile – but my son is not much used to the F2F engagements – is there a Staff/LB build that works or would he be sacrificing too much?

If you like shout trooper, you can run same build it with staff/LB. If you want build which made around especially for staff/lb it will involved the skrimishimg trait line, which will make it abit more “advance”.

No, condi longbow is not for anyone but the crazy!
It really is hard to go wrong with the shout trooper lb/staff type build.

I’m not saying, your build is bad, or it hasn’t any mobility. But whenever i play with lb it feels like i’m lacking mobility (unless i use QD – but skirmishing brings other downsides), because i’m used to have more of it with my full melee build and the only other thing that can match it mobility wise is staff + either gs or s/x. LB 3 is too unreliable for safe escapes, so even if you might have to sacrifice your mobility skill on staff for the stealth, i find it a lot easier to escape this way.
LOL – Different game same boards when asking opinions about a build – Narrowed down now; he just played about 3 hours following the Zerg and really wants to be a buff bot healer guy.
So I guess the priority would go something like this:
Healing effectiveness
Tankiness
Group Boons
Escape/Mobility
Sacrificing whatever DPS makes sense
Heck for all I know he may be playing the wrong class!
Thanks again and Pura vida from Costa Rica
Nice Lugh…… That’s a playstyle/build for him to work into
For Now – since he is mostly just learning I got him hooked up on a Full PVE Healer support build and will move him over to something like the above when he feels ready! I doubt anyone will mind that he is not adding any DPS as long as he is healing/buffing/cleaning
All – thx for the help!

Covers all the above mentioned. With traited shouts y’all will be getting perma swiftness and regen. Regen ticks for 208hps on this build. You don’t need excessive healing power since ur not gonna outheal your opponent’s dps, especially after the nerfs.
This actually packs some decent personal dps when you include that of your pet’s. When zerging, I recommend switching out s/wh for lb and nature magic to marksmanship.
S/wh will give him more mobility in and out of combat while being able to provide y’all with more boons. Once he gets better with positioning though, I’d recommend dropping s/wh for lb entirely, use a zerker/marauder LB with sigil of air and accuracy slotted. That will give him more spike damage and an on-demand CC to proc ancient seeds.
