New signet to fix Rangers? Your thoughts!
Well pets are good in PvP and are -ok- in dungeons (just about every non pet option is better atm though which needs fixing).
That being said, I don’t think this is what we’d need, especially since it’d leave the rangers using this without a profession mechanic, which ANET doesn’t want to happen…

Agreed 100%!
But the problem is all Elites have long cooldowns.
And gaining buffs from it aint good enough as it can be stipped or turned into conds easily.
Unless its an Active/Passive Elite Signet.
Passive = Pure Ranger no Pets increase Precision & 10% Chance to gain QZ on hit.
Active = Beastmaster. Pets active.
lol i bet no one gonna active it

The petbar could be replaced with profession mechanics that symbolised the animals – something like elementalists attunements – bear, wolf, cat, bird or something like that

Yes it should be a passive(/active) signet to give the option to remove the pet completely
Devs will never allow rangers to play without their pet in gw2 they said this numerous times.

Well you have one stand until you take another… and they already allow rangers to play without pets in dungeons most of the time
This topic is about what the “ranger-community” thinks and not what devs think – devs can write what they think themselves
For me it’s just i love the range(d)r part of the play, but the pets stupid AI and wiping all the time sucks. I really believe this would make my playing experience a lot more fun.

They also said that rangers were going to be the jack of all trades prof, but that’s ele, they also said our pets were going to have “evolutions” like in GW1, and most recently they even said they were going to fix our utilities…
So… yeah, as you can see, what they say isn’t always what ends up happening!

Yes the signet should be passive no pets and kill any targetted monster when activated, cooldown 2 seconds
IGN: Recommend -lvl 80 Ranger

Yes please just do this now, get rid of the stupid, thick , mainly dead pet that I hate so much, at least give us a choice.
Those that want to drag a liability around with them will still be able to, and they can still bleat on “My pet is awesome”".
Nah,that would render about half of or utility skills worthless(well more so)
It worked in gw1 but itd require a complete reworking of our class.
I like it. I agree with Arenanet that pets should stay the class defining mechanic for Ranger but I think having an elite for just a certain amount of time that will buff ourselves for the sake of the pet (remember that already exists with certain shouts) would be a very good option.
No matter how they buff/change/improve pets there will be always situations when they will just die (attacking gates/walls in WvW or certain bosses in dungeons). This is the moment an elite like that could shine. It would just be the perfect compromise.
I just think that the shouts should go the pet’s utility bar (and of course, add a pet utility bar). Maybe the pet would have 1 utility, and if traited 2? That would be a neat grandmaster trait, not that quickness crap.
One question:
If pet were optional (like it should be), what happens with big amount of traits that gives something to the pet? will it given to our char? those traits are lost
We need 3 things:
1.- option to quit pet
2.- an incremental of stats or something if pet is quitted
3.- an exhaust revision of our traits
Pets shouldn’t be optional, pets aren’t supposed to be optional, pets aren’t optional, pets could never be optional and pets never will be optional.

It would be nice if…
Passive: Currently pets do ~40% of a ranger’s total damage. With the passive effect, that 40% is given to the ranger so that the ranger does the full 100% without needing a pet (since there won’t be one). The ranger would also get bonuses to their stats, a 10% increase but not 10% of the ranger’s stats. 10% of the pet’s stats is what is added to the rangers. So if you would normally have a bear active, you are gonna see a bigger boost to your health. The canine would cause the ranger to see a decent buff to toughness. Etc.
The ability to swap pets would still be there. By swapping your pet, this will potentially change the pet’s attributes and thus, the buff to your own attributes would change accordingly.
Active: You take on a wereform depending on the pet. Ex. any canine (wolf or dog) would cause you to become a werewolf. Any bird would cause you to become a Tengu. And so on. When in this form, you gain the skills that your pet would use in place of the pet command bar. So for a wolf, F1 would be Crippling Leap; F2 would be Terrifying Howl; and F3 would be Brutal Charge. The basic attack (bite in this case) wouldn’t be used.
Wouldn’t mind a signet like this at all, even if it was just a passive 15-20% dmg increase while you had the signet on your skill bar.
It would be useful for fights like Grenth where aoe is flying all over the place, or in precarious situations where you don’t want the pet dragging in aggro.
(Even on passive they sometimes stand far away from you, even after commanding them to return.)
Though, /shrug, I guess something like this was proposed long ago, but shot down.

True I agree, devs should stop trying to make us have “fun” their way…If this signet was introduced i don’t think there would be a ranger that’d be mad about it as it is adds a whole new level of play.
