I believe they’re considering splits more. Especially when it comes to pets and spirits.

I really hope you’re right about that.
But in the meantime I’ve heard 50 different rumors from sources claiming to be in Test Krewe or who knew someone in it, and ain’t seen 1 yet that was even in the same zipcode

We’ll know soon if what I heard was right or not. I hope it is.

Honestly I dont mind the spirit nerf/buff, but if they’re going to constantly nerf ranger every patch, pets, spirits, longbow still being meh, short bow nerf… why bother? Ranger needs a defined role in the game Jack of all trades master of none obviously isnt working out.. People laugh at me when I pug fractals only to then find when they give me a chance im the one saving everyone and putting out dps. Wvw we’re ok.. roaming we need a bit of help but who cant zerg? I dont play spvp, but i agree with seperate skills for spvp while leaving wvw/pve linked.

Yeah. When PUGs give us a chance, rangers are often the ones keeping the party alive either by rezzing them when they fall or by maintaining decent DPS while dropping Healing Springs where their allies can benefit.

I only see rangers doing that when they’re not in Melee where they should be and the rest of the team …isn’t good. The fight would be over already and no one would be downed in the first place if everyone is dodging and melee’ing correctly. We have lots of evades, they just require timing.

This is a bit different in level 80 Open World encounters of course. But being the timid backliner who thinks they’re keeping everyone else up…. just doesn’t seem factual to me. It seems like an excuse actually.

I was speaking of DPS in melee. Ranged is for when melee is too dangerous for your particular spec or when you’re too injured to not die to the next damage packet headed your way. We do have great dodges and evades, but they only last so long. If the battle takes too long, it is often better to jump back and return to ranged damage until you can once again safely re-enter melee.

And yes, you should technically never need to res another because everyone, in an ideal world, would never go down. But we all know that isn’t the case. Especially outside of guild groups. I’ve noticed that a good ranger, though, rarely ever goes down. And we’re nimble enough to help res others almost regardless of where they fall. And dropping a Healing Spring on them while ressing does improve our survivability while doing so.

It’s nice to not assume everyone only attacks at range, you know.

barely use spirits so i find it hard to care…

but this…

Spirit of Nature: Recharge has been reduced from 240 seconds to 180 seconds.

i like… i like a lot

there is no change made in other words…

Before patch: 240-60 second lifespan = 180
After Patch: 60 sec lifespan + 180 CD

its basically the same, unless your nature spirit dies almost instantly

I find it humorous how if you attack at range you’re bad… No, it just means I don’t give a rats kitten about how fast we clear the thing, I’d rather take 5 minutes longer (because really ranged isn’t THAT far off from Melee) and never die than clear it faster and have a few deaths.

And it may just be me being a PvP player and thinking being glass is stupid, but I ALWAYS Rez my allies if it won’t kill me, because Mercy Runes are kittening OP lol.

It still saddens me that ranger meta is all melee. GG.

Okay yeah that much I will agree with. … I wouldn’t be holding and even outright Tanking the Aggro of 30+ shades entirely by myself in the Grenth Temple if it wasn’t true. (some days I go down faster than others but that’s usually b/c some fool who had priest aggro ran back to me causing a non-rendering red circle of launching you up into the ceiling so you die of FALL DAMAGE always comes as quite the surprise and I’d like the meet the man who can avoid that little snafu).

But I honestly can’t count on more than 1 hand the people I’ve seen in-game who play ranger that well. The ones I’ve seen in-game, were basically all from the forums already and part of this same chorus of “Well ranger can be really good in the right hands”. Of course it can. But many other classes are even BETTER in those same hands. Even Necromancer which we know for a fact was hilariously overpowered for 1 update in sPvP just b/c it gave the out-of-the-box thinkers a way to dominate on it without the necessary gestation time for a counter-meta to develop.

You can never, ever, ever get away from this “In the same hands” argument.
All of us who do well on Ranger, do so explicitly because we are technically adept meaning that we are better at understanding & then fighting broken controls, AI/UI and broken mechanics than we are at actually fighting the more mainstream MMO definitions of challenging fights.

You’re right there. In the same hands, we’d rock so many more classes much, much better. In late-game PvE, that is anyways. We’re plenty powerful in PvP. It’s only PvE that we’re weaker due to reasons that we all know.

Yes, any competent rangers here will agree that we have glaring issues. We, though, are not unplayable everywhere. Or even anywhere.
