Now That I AM A Bit Higher Level, I see Power In The Class
Axe+Torch+Fire Trap OR Mud AE Bleed+Cripple
River Drake + Polar Bear and Vets melt in seconds.
PvE solo questing kill speed and solo ability is powerful.
Tried PvP and played Power+Toughness build with SB+S/D and the build is powerful.
Tried GS but can’t seem to get in any kind of rhythm, must be me.
LB is amazing if you open from range+Pet Swap for 2sec quickness things die fast.In general once I got 5 points into BM just about any weapon melts my targets with quickness -I still don’t have Zeph.
It gets even better! You’ll be soloing champions in no time.
A 77 ranger friend can and does regularly solo champions with bear+wolf using LB+SB but it takes him a long time.
I can solo champions at 64. But my main issues is in dungeons, where is just ridiculously hard to find a niche. Dungeons are the “End game” pve so to speak, but bleh, rangers are weak there, while being borderline ez mode on overworld pve :C
Indeed the pet needs to better survivability inside dungeons not sure how that can be done.
The one-shot mechanics in dungeons is what kills pets. We can’t stow them away without them popping out, and they can’t dodge 1 shots. You can’t even call them out of some one-shots, like the guy in AC that pulls everyone to him and spins. My pet is honestly about 35-40% of my damage while I’m not bursting. Boo!
Why can’t they add 90% AE mitigation and have the pet a;ways move behind the target?
I run with double spider (jungle and cave iirc) and they don’t die TOO often – but in CoE on Subject Alpha fights, it’s a joke. There’s no way to keep them alive.
Usually I don’t like suggesting things be done the way they’ve been done in other big MMOs, but I definitely agree with 90% reduced AoE damage and pets attacking behind the target. It’d be awesome to use the pet who’s F2 gives 5x Might (jungle stalker maybe?).
Otherwise, I’m enjoying the profession a lot more than I did Guardian, especially in dungeons.
My Ranger Niche in dungeon is as a controller.
Frozen Trap and Spike Trap combined with Entangled and QZ or Muddy Terrain, allows you to control the mobs really effectively. Healing Spring also is a must for support.
Seriously control of the battlefield means more coordination, less chaos, less people getting hit and thus an easier time for all.
For Pets, I use brown bear for condition removal and black widow for conditions.
Armor & Weapons is Carrion and Rampage.
Weapons SB & Axe/Horn
As our dps suck, we (for now) cannot think dps but support. And Traps are great support.
I find the ranger to be enjoyable, although annoyed by a bunch of bugs I keep running across.
I run a 20/20/20/0/10 build and found that it works very well with how I play. I use a longbow and a Sword/Axe combo (switch the axe for a warhorn depending on where I am; Forstgorge Sound I is usually a warhorn and in Orr an Axe for whirling defense).
