Was fun fighting you Archon. I knew after the first 3 seconds of the fight when conditions started dropping, it wasn’t going to be easy. First fight was kinda close, the second fight was even closer. All in all, they were great fights. It was also nice to meet you in game.

The build posting by the current king is to encourage counter builds as well. If you see a glaring weakness in a build (the reason I picked a glass LB build when I put myself on top of the hill) by all means, exploit that weakness! You don’t necessarily need a fantastic dueling build, just spot weaknesses and make them pay!

Technically, according to what we all semi-agreed on it is. I was delaying a rematch myself for a while to give others a chance to find the thread and hopefully be the king. But ya, we don’t need to wait forever, a couple days is fine for a rematch I think.
I’m going to put my challenge in for about thursday depending on ItIsFinished schedule and his ability to continue to sit atop my throne. So few NA rangers!

Alright so it looks like Eggyokeo is next, then SadKeanu if I am still King. I can duel anytime after work which is 5:30pm PST, up until 11:30pm PST. So, whoever is available tonight/next, post what time works best for you between 5:30pm PST and 11:30pm PST.
ItIsFinished.9462 you might have to skip me as that’s a little to early for me 11:30pm PST is 4:30pm East Australia time and i don’t get home form work for an hour or more after that.
what gains the winner? All arguments and balance idea are more valid?

Perhaps the question is stated unfairly? I think the friendly little tourney stands to gain more than only the winner. As proof, I would submit I leaned some great longbow techniques and strategies from ItIsFinished, and I lost the fight. He used 2 strategies I’ve never encountered before and is waay better with the bow than anyone I’ve encountered in PvP.
In addition, those who don’t partake can have a look at what other active Rangers are using and maybe get some new ideas, since participants post their builds.

@Eggyokeo.9705, it was 2 good battles, I think the Longbow really helped me in our two fights. As I was able to keep a good distance. I look forward to dueling/practicing with you again.
@Jhughes.8341, I had a feeling you were running conditions due to your equipped weapons, and having only SoR in your utilities. I was right, and when you popped Sun Spirit, then Spirit of Nature, I recognized it as Tanbin’s build. I thought I was toast, but somehow my kiting saved me. You had me sweating big time….

Don’t forget once you get in the realm of about 5 or 7 consecutive defenses, consider dethroning yourself and coming back with a different build. This is up to the king, if every defense is a brutal struggle, you might stay, if you are slaughtering people, you might use the same build with a self imposed handicap.
Also I’d like to point out there has yet to be a MoC build in this.

I totally agree. I would suggest that after 5 opponent’s, the sixth one gets to choose out of a pool of handicaps. And each handicap is piggy backed for every duel after.
For example lets say the handicap pool consists of these choices:
No Armor
No Sigils
One Weaponset
Subtract 2 Trait points – this can be chosen multiple times
Subtract 1 Utility – this can be chosen multiple times
No Elite
The sixth opponent would choose 1 handicap. If the King wins, he has to keep that handicap for the next fight. So the seventh opponent picks another handicap and so on.
This is only a suggestion and hope to hear from other Rangers inputs.
If someone can beat me while wearing no amulet I’m pretty much going to stop playing ranger and take up warrrior.
The rest I think are pretty reasonable. I think we should still leave some leeway up to the king, if he’s stressing himself out every fight, delay the handicaps for a couple fights. 5 or 7ish defenses.
I also wonder if handicaps solidified will get that kitteny kitten eurantien in here.

I haven’t decided how I feel about the not allowed to change build rules. Ideally I would honor and go power vs power. But a good condi build should beat a power build. However, out of ranger spirit I am willing to suffer that defeat and dethrone the king with 6/6/2 zerker. When I lose and a new king has been made I will be happy to dethrone that king as well with a condi build. That being said, I don’t think I really wish to be king… I just started a term of school and am preparing for ToG and WTS so I wouldn’t have too much time for duels. Just showing some transparency on my thoughts. If the community wishes, I will happily dethrone kings, but I don’t think I can handle the responsibility of the crown atm.
Not being able to change build reflects roaming and to some degree PvP queuing.
The current NA king is NOT a pure condi or power build, so feel free to use your 662, and if ItIsFinished is up the challlenge I think we are all curious if a full glass power ranger can claim the throne!

You seem to have missed the point where more than one person pointed out that this event is not about who’s the best, but for experimenting with builds and learning from others.
What gives you the right to present yourself as the best ranger?
I’m not the one who says “Skill cancelling the pets to bait dodges is also the ONLY way to actually have a chance at winning 1 v 1s or even 2 v 2s. Unless your opponent is really bad.”, it’s you. As a side note, that sentence doesn’t even make sense for someone who has reading comprehension.
If the community wishes…. wishes my kitten … The community will not come to you and say “please please please dethrone the king”.
This event accepts anyone, but there is no demand. That is, you are not demanded.
Alright, wasn’t too sure if it was all just for funsies or not. I did get called out as one of the forum rangers people wanted to “beat up”.
Yeah, totally for funsies. Good luck on your term, also. Have a go at the king, we all might learn something. My LB prowess has already improved from practicing with ItIsFinished. It’s a nice way to meet peeps as well.

Eurantien.4632 2-1 using same build First fight he beat me. The next was close, the third fight was even closer. I think I had about 3-4k health left, which was essentially one auto attack away from being downed.

So the first fight wasn’t even close. I wasn’t sure what he was running…pure power or pure condis. It was pure power, and it wasn’t even close. He killed me with about 70% of his life left. The second fight I adjusted. Got lucky on kiting…again. My bird did a lot of damage since I was unable to hit 1500+ range. The third fight was close. I had about 3-4k health left when I downed him. Luckily, my healing was off CD.
For the record, we dueled two more times for fun, and he beat me both times. So I know that he will be rematching soon, and I’ll probably lose the hill. Or someone else will catch on and realize my build is vulnerable to EE’s range.
Anyways, was good dueling with you Erantien.4632. I look forward to the rematch.
Hope you guys had fun, would be cool to see the challanger builds in the post as well. And I hate to harp on it, but a link in the original post to the current ruling king’s post would be nice.

Thanks solrik. We finally got to fight. the rounds went fairly quick. Solrik was trying out a trap build that didnt work out to well, mainly because imo traps are just weak overall. Hopefully we have a rematch soon though.
