[Bush] – Dragonbrand
Opening Strikes fixed
It’s the little things in life that can make you happy. This is the kind of thing I like to see; gradually working out the bugs without making a huge fuss about it. Thanks, ANet. :)
So works with any ability, and not just autoattack?
The Grandmaster Trait Relentless also works now too.
Still not as good as Beastmaster, but at least it got fixed.

Do you mean Remorseless?
Yes, tested it and it resets whenever you score a kill.
Nice for when I’m not using Signet of Stone. Combined with Longbow, you can get +20% in the beginning of a fight.
I don’t run any Marskmanship traits, but this is a very nice fix certainly.
But why the heck is this not mentioned in the patch notes? Fixing an entire 3 minor traits (and apparently one major trait as well) is hardly something that should go unmentioned.

They probably didn’t even know they fixed it.
Elementalist
The Dragonfly Effect [Phi]
The pets opening strike also works too btw.
So, our broken useless minor traits become just useless, not broken. Well, thats something.
This made me very happy. This is all I wanted to see, bugs getting fixed. Now these are quality of life improvements. It’s basically a 5-10% buff to longbow damage + 100% crit on first hit, which yes, we should have had access to from the start.
why is this not in the patch notes? just hoping its not an accident and they borke it again.
This makes me happy, extra damage at the start of a fight is always good news
Do you have down syndrome?
Hey epsilon judging by the way you call other ppl you are definitely not the sharpest tool in the box eheh.
Nice fix btw just tried it and works. Sadly they kittened up birds animation to compensate…
This is good news. If nothing else, it adds a little temptation to give marksmanship another chance for those of us who’ve been avoiding it.
This wasn’t something I was really concerned about too much since any talent that only helps your first attack when you enter combat is inherently problematic, but I’m glad to see that this is fixed, nonetheless. I mean, we traded this bug fix for a new bug with raven’s animation, but at least that one doesn’t really affect gameplay, lol.
Anyways, keep it up ArenaNet! Good work, but please don’t stop here!
What exactly does opening strikes do, I’ve always wondered.

I use birds but I havent noticed any animation bug, maybe its because I spend so much time LoSing while pet attacks, what is the bug?
Also opening strike makes you and your pets next hit cause vulnerability when first entering combat and 100% crit on that.

There’s a thread about it with screenshots here:

Eh if it doesnt affect my play idc.
Now that the trait line has been fixed, does anyone know when the vulnerability is applied?
Opening Strike + Hunter’s Shot +Critical Hit would probably hit for high amount if it applied before.

5 stacks of vulnerability for 5 seoncds, but its usually augmented further by the top tree condition duration and by anything else a ranger takes (usually 6-7 seconds). The pet also applies opening strikes at 15 marksman giving the ranger 10 stacks of vuln to give to an enemy at the start of a fight.

For five seconds.
The trait is still worthless. Even though most of our other traits are pretty lackluster as well, they still blow Markmanship out of the water.
Only tested in pve so far:
I find the trait to be very good now that it actually works, especially in combination with remorseless.
Going to give it a go in pvp soon.
It’s far from useless. and I’m getting annoyed with people being stuck in hate on Jon mode.
