So as you know in the traits, skirmishing last trait, moment of clarity, gives an attack of opportunity when you interrupt. Well I interrupted alot of times but didn’t see anything happen with my next or my pet’s next attack. What is that attack of opportunity? Shouldn’t there be an icon stating your next attack is an attack of opportunity and what it does? And for the opening strike, I had alot of problems with it, like 50% of the time mobs not getting the debuff. Then I had max-ed the traits and in the end I had opening strike on my pet and again after I kill a target. Same here, 50% of the time my pet woudn’t give the debuff and 50% of the time after a kill I woudn’t get the opening strike again. And when I get it there was AGAIN a 50% chance my next attack won’t do the debuff. Was so annoying and felt I wasted alot of points and just changed the tree….

I assume you’re using some kind of bow as weapon most of the time? I was just as confused first, because I observed the same problem as you, opening strike often just not proccing on my first attack. I even submitted a bug report. Then I read somewhere on these forums in a totally unrelated topic: Opening strike has a maximum range of 900.
Whenever your first attack is made from farther away (again, longbow FTL) it’s simply skimmed.

Oh… okay. That’s for opening strike. But attack of opportunity? Still don’t know what it is or what it does.

Attack of opportunity lets you deal 10% more damage to bleeding targets, according to the wiki. I haven’t got any experience with that, as I’m not even close to 60 yet.
I totally agree alot of tooltipping and general mechanic explanation needs more clarity in this game.

That’s a warrior trait.
Ranger attack of opportunity is a buff that lets your next attack deal 150% of it’s damage. If you use Signet of the Hunt or thunk something on the head with greatsword #5 and check your pet’s status icons, you can see it crop up.

But, yeah, I also can’t seem to get moment of clarity to work either.

I read that “Opening strike has a maximum range of 900”. I think this have to be fixed because when you play a ranger you usually play for long range attack, or atleast be present in the description of the trait.

When you’re interrupted your next and your pet’s next attack deal 150% damage; basically a critical hit every time you are interrupted.
Not 100% sure about the “you have to be interrupted” part, though.

I agree with Alric this does need to be looked at and possibly fixed. Why would you get a skill from the trait tree that is only effective at short range when the tree you’re getting it from is listed as the Marksmanship tree with the description “Marksmanship is a trait line for the ranger that focuses on long range damage and the use of signets.”?

Bump. Please increase the range of opening strike for triggering the 5 stacks of vulnerability, or provide a decent reason as to why being at range is not something a ranger should benefit from.

i believe the interrupt is when you’re being interrupted? correct me if i am wrong

Attack of opportunity give you an attack at 150% damage, like said before.
The trait works when you interrupt someone, not when you are interrupted. You can see an icon on your buff bar like when you use the Signet of the Hunt with Signet of Beastmaster trait.
For now, Opening Strike has a maximum range of 900 and works only with the auto attack.
