Owl > raven?
It’s less about the damage, as overall the damage between those and other birds are equal and more about the utility that each provides. A Chill vs a Blind, and imo you get far more benefit in most situations from the chill. In certain sPvP situations the blind would be handy but I think overall the owl is a better choice between the two.

I agree with Shaidan. Unless you are using a lot of snare skills and just want more damage, the chill from the owl is a lot better. Not only does chill slow opponents down by 66%, thereby allowing your pets to hit more often, it also makes your opponents skills recharge 66% slower. And with the birds swiftness on top, it makes the owl the best pet for chasing.

I’ve done a lot of research on the differences of the birds, and in terms of dps on moving targets (more PvP related) highest to lowest is as follows: Eagle/Hawk>Owl>Raven. Eagle/Hawk have slightly more dps with low precision, owl has fairly high precision with slightly less dps, raven has low precision and low dps.
By precision I mean the range between faster kill and slowest kill. You can believe what I’m saying or not, idc, but I have tested this extensively where the pets have no buffs (0 in BM).

people dont use birds for overall dps, they use them for controlled burst.

I use owl and winter wolf for the chill. There’s a tier1 Marks trait that extends the duration of pet conditions which works really well for this, I can get like 5 seconds of chill off of it.
