PVE soloing build?
The easiest solo build? The infamous Bearbow. Two bears, two bows, all zerker traits and gear. The bears will tank really well for you with the hp buff a few months back while you safely dps.
However, it’s bad for dungeoneering, so when you need to do dungeons, switch to canines, felines, or birds, and take sword/horn instead of bows.
Any build will work. I use 30/25/0/15/0. Just make sure you know what the champ can do and adjust your weapons accordingly. It takes longer to solo champs on a ranger though, so be ready for a long fight.
excuse me, but what are zerker traits?
Power/Precision/Critical Damage boosting ones. Basically stuff that gives you damage at the expense of everything else.
Bearbow is honestly pretty effective, and I actually find it pretty entertaining.

thanks very much for the info =)
Any build you want. Pets in general make it super easy to open world PvE with. I had no problems with champions running bird/zerker.

Every time you swap pets, you essentially heal all the damage the previous pet had taken. Since bears have the most hp, you’re healing the most damage by swapping them. If you need that much “healing” to take on a champ, then that’s when the bear will be best.
If you don’t need that much healing (some champs, most vets), the other pets are generally better. Cats are the opposite end of the spectrum from bears – high damage, low tankage. If you can work the fight swapping cats, then they’re the best way to go. If you need something a little tankier, try the birds. If you need something tankier than that, try the drakes.
I generally run a cat/drake pair. I run the cat as much as I can, but if it’s about to die I swap to the drake which can tank most mobs I can also switch the drake if I’m fighting multiple mobs (its attacks are AOE/cleave). In certain situations where I need ranged pets, I’ll swap for spider/devourer. I only use bears for the few champ mobs where I need maximum tanking ability (e.g. Kol Skullsmasher).
What Solandri said. I run lynx/river drake (bounce lighting is better than a cone) unless extreme tankage is needed, in which case I bring brown bear/sylvan hound.
Since I run 20/0/20/0/30 that’s almost never.
UW default is shark/ice drake (for the insta-cast frost nova)
Anything can work really. You can pump up healing and pet stats to improve pet tanking as well for the really tough champs. Zerker does it faster.
I have a 30/10/30/0/0 Condition/Toughness build that works really well solo. Can get to 25 bleeds, poision and a good lot of fire damage in one weapon rotation with
Axe/Horn, Sword/Torch. Combine that with Might sigils, jungle stalker (up to 12 might) and eagle for quick bleed refresh.
As long as you can read the skill tells of champs and be good at dodging then you’re good to go.
Bearbow lol
I actually solo most things in PvE using my WvW builds… BTR/RRR. It takes a while sometimes (though you can still do tons of damage via conditions in the range of 2500+/s not counting pet), but you hardly ever die which makes tanking bosses something that’s not very difficult. Can solo the krait witches with this build, so it’s definitely PvE viable.

Still running my old RRR build because why not
how on earth do you get 2500dps on condition alone. even if you include your bow dps, its very hard to achieve. Unless you are stacking CD with sigil. Even my condition build of 1600 (no stack), my condition damage is about 750-800 fire, 450 bleed and poison about 300. (This includes a +6% CD damage from sigil) SB is putting out about 300 because this build was made with everything on CD.
