Pet AI Costs alot of $?
It costs CPU time, which is usually a very precious resource on game servers. It’s the same reason mobs typically have very poor AI.
Actually I wouldn’t mind if they switched the pet AI to make parts of it client-side, and let us write our own AI scripts. So we could program certain behaviors in our pets (like not walk through red circles), and our computer would simply tell the server where the pet should walk.
all they have to do is change it so they can hit while moving.. and require unstealthed players better and there you go
the A.I. for mesmer clones is better for the reacquiring unstealthed players.. just use that part of code..
to hit while moving just need a animation redesign..
and if it needs a lil bit more just add a lil speed buff to pets so they can acually catch up to players..
the only bit that would be hard is the pathing if a enemy jumps off a ledge then your pet will take the stairs.. but tbh i think thats out of bounds coding wise atm

Pet attacks when you hit F1. Pet returns when you hit F3. That’s good enough for me.

No their classic bullkitten line is “technical issues/limitations”.
Like in GW1 when we were told time and again that 7 hero teams were literally impossible due to technical limitations and low and behold they can all of a sudden do it without any major adjustments to the game engine.
I am surprised they having polished this one off yet but I guess they are afraid to actually admit there are any technical issues with the game at all. Might hurt the sale of froofroo backpacks.

what are you talking about? Mesmer AI is just as stupid as pets. The only difference between mesmer illusions and pets is that they die before they become a liability.

your probably right.. I had “heard” that they were better at reacquiring unstealthed players but i have no proof or have really seen myself.. was taking what another said at face value.. that being said it’s quite possible that they are better at this one thing..
