It’s pretty late atm and im dead tired from work but since im off tomorrow IDGAF so i decided to try to break down the pet damage formula.

Currently the damage formula works as follows.

Power*Weapon Damage*Skill Coefficient/Targets Armor = Damage

Power is pretty simple to see what it is.

Weapon damage is simple also. Example Exotic Greatsword is 995-1,100 damage. (995+1,100)/2=1,047.5
Weapon damage is pretty hard to get on pets/granades/conjures since you can’t see the weapon.

You can still get them NP though. For example for grenades you do the following.
Open your character window and switch to the Weapon Skills Tab.
Equip Granades, your damage tooltip will chance on your attacks, you now know the weapon damage of the Granade Kit since it is now your “Weapon”.

You can do the same with conjures.

With pets its a bit different since you can’t equip pets. BUT the pet window is “broken”. The pets damage on the abilities are actually based off your Power and Weapon Damage, this bugged window helps us figure out the pet damage formula.

To cut it short, Pet Weapon Damage is 3,000.

Lets take Felines for example.

Slash (Auto Attack)
1374*3000*.35/2600 = 554.88

Go attack the Heavy Dummy (which has 2,600 armor) and you will see the damage range that its correct.

Ive tested the medium/light dummy also (2,400/2,200 armor) with Masters Bond and 30 points in BM to see the difference and it lines up correctly.

Skill Coefficients i have ATM.

Feline
Slash – .35
Bite – .7
Maul – .4

Bird
Slash – .33
Swoop – .66

Drake –
Bite – .33
Chomp – .65
Tail Swipe – .9
Lightning Breath – .4

Auto Attack Speeds

Feline – 1.2
Bird – 2.6
Drake – 1.4

Most pet attacks seem to be double strikes. How did you consider this in your coefficients? Did you just combine both in that case?

You multiply it by the amount of hits per attack. In the case of birds its *2.

Raven using Slash

1374*3000*.33/2600=523

Then multiply it by 2 since the Auto Attack hits twice
523*2=1046

So do pets scale from the ranger’s power or the pet’s power? I’m stacking precision to proc signets but if my pet will hit harder from stacking power I’ll switch to full power.

If this is something that relates to pets’ static stats then there will be no reason to change builds but only change what pets you use if you want a certain damage output. That said, I think everyone knows birds hit the hardest but at a slower pace, and cats have the highest dps.

Pets power, the tooltip on the attacks are just bugged and use your power instead.

Also Drakes hit the hardest not birds.

Assuming we know how much damage will be dealt and how much armor the enemy has;

Let AR (Known) be armor, DMG (Known) be damage dealt and RDMG (raw damage) be damage before armor reduction.
SC – Skill Coefficient (Unknown)
P – Power (Known)
STR – Weapon Strength (Unknown)

We know that the formula for damage is (SC * P * STR) / AR = DMG
We can then move things around:
SC * P * STR = DMG * AR = RDMG → SC * P * STR = RDMG → SC * STR = P * RDMG = Y
Y = SC * STR
We have two unknows. But!
We can solve SC for each skill if we note the damage numbers for different pet attribute stats. When we have found SC for one ability, it is possible to find STR:
STR = Y / SC

Where did you find this? Like solrik said, we can make an equation to solve for STR and SC, but both are unknowns and both are dependent on the other (we have to find one to solve the other). I’m just not seeing where you got the SCs. The Wiki isn’t being much help there.

The SC can be found because the damage tooltips on the pet is wrong and uses the players power and weapon damage.

I think he altered the value of his power. That allows you to make a system of equations and solve for both unknowns. Once you have the weapon damage, which should be constant, you can find the other coefficients easily.

Thank God there are people who crunch numbers and are willing to share the data w/ the masses!

Ive been too busy last few weeks and will be all next week but i will eventually put it in an excel sheet where you can add how many points in BM you have and pet traits and it will tell you your pets dps.
