Pet Scaling for WvW and PvE

Hi all,

I’m wondering about the future of high Beastmastery builds past this patch. I have several really good SPvP builds that use 30 BM traits but the only reason that they work is because the SPvP arena is a level playing field in which stats are balanced.

When you go into PvE or WvW, player power increases dramatically due to ascended gear, food, and auxiliary WvW buffs.

Because pets have fixed stats and are unscalable past 30 BM, even 30 BM pets are very weak when compared to stat-inflated enemies.

Because of this, putting 30 into BM makes a very weak ranger when compared to putting stats into power trees or condi because these builds can be exponentially boosted by stats while pet-reliant builds cannot.

I think that the addition of something like food that buffs pet stats or pet-specific rune sets for WvW and PvE might help with this issue. BM players need some way to boost the pet to be able to contend with content that increases with difficulty and player power creep.

It’d make sense if your pet scaled in quality based on the quality of your equipped weapon. So people with an ascended weapon would get ascended pet stats.

Pet food to buff the pet’s stats would also be nice. Or even foods that improve the pet in specific situations, like a food to make it more resistant to AoE damage or food to increase it’s movement speed and damage. Roamers would likely go with the damage increase food while zergers would go for the damage reduction food.
