Pet Skills?
Idk about that, but sometimes the ability wont active ate when the Pet isn’t close enough to a target or it’s master. Also, it might be a bug because on my WvW Thief (I main ranger in sPvP) I’m noticing that my Steal isn’t actually stealing sometimes and places it on the long CD and not the short “you had no target” CD.
I’m not sure, I don’t use the Moa much because of those exact thoughts.
I’ve seen it use it. BUT I don’t think it will use it to save you specifically.
For example if you’re almost dead and it’s fine, it’ll just peck away and not think twice about you. But when it is personally low on health, it uses it asap.
Not saying that’s how it is, but that’s how it feels like it is.
The Moa needs to be injured for it to use this skill. If it is in melee range, it is one of 3 available skills and seems to be random when it uses it. At range though, it is the only viable skill it can use automatically. Often it will use the skill after getting knocked back. You can just fight near your Moa and it will use its skill by itself eventually, but…
You can get the Moa to use this skill on-demand if it is not on cooldown…
Option 1: While Moa is meleeing something and is injured, use F3 to pull your pet clear out of melee range, and then F1 to attack at range. Moa will use its ranged skill.
Option 2: While Moa is meleeing something and is injured, use Point Blank Shot to push target away from the bird. Moa will use its ranged skill.
Option 3: Keep pet on passive, keep it near you not fighting, wait till it is injured, then order it to attack a ranged target. Moa will use its ranged skill. (Pocket Moa)
Once you understand the Harmonic Cry, Moas are much better pets.
