Pet coordination in spvp
I like to use the jungle spider and whiptail devourer in Pvp range pets only for spvp work best I find less time to get to the target to start damaging it and also don’t really die due to their range. I switch out pets a lot for the quickness or if I need the spider for its web for melee type professions
Really? I’ve had no problems with my ranger’s pets in fights. They just go autoattack and do their thing really. My lynx gets like 3-4 auto attacks even on the move every 10 seconds or so

I’ll try out lynx again, but what I notice is that any player that doesn’t stand still avoids most pet damage. I also notice this when ranger pets are attacking me.
So far for me the best strategy is to slow my target and then set my pet on them, also kiting around traps with melee pet. But I can see much more potential for this and wondered if anyone had some brilliant strategies they would like to share.
The best way to utilize pets is to use slows or CC, cause when they can actually stick to a target. Even without beastmastery they surprisingly do really good damage.
I use 2 dog/wolf pets and cycle to the 2nd pet pretty quickly in the fight. This usually gets me 2 knockdowns and cripples right away from the pets
I start off with Longbow #3 and #4 for a knockdown, pet now gets to them and knocks them down again while I’m zephyr dpsing with Longbow #2 – switch pets and switch to shortbow for 2 more secs of zephyr dps and another knockown from next dog pet. Poison and timely daze/stun anticipating heal.
Depending on dodges and their quick utility use for stability or immunity etc, this can sometimes completely control a target to zero.
Easiest thing is to go to the golems in HOTM and pull out pet after pet and observe it’s attack sequence f2 responsiveness on a target that poses zero risk. Once they are on CD the f2 seems very responsive to me on most pets. It’s when you try to F2 while they are in the middle of their CD abilitiy charge up where you seem to have problems.
barrage, muddy terrain, frost trap axe 3, etc…. Snare slow the target to keep the pet on it.
Certain f2’s like drakes you can only really get off on stationary summoned targets reliably(chain lightning use).
When choosing your pet look at the attack ranges. Short range with slow attack speeds don’t hit a human target to well.
Leaps 300+range etc…much more reliable.
And of course if it’s dominant damage matches your power or condition situation.
Some pets seem to do well regardless of the above aka have good power damage and condition.
OoS
A whittling ranger becomes viable by forcing his opponent to whittle
Yes it’s definately advisable to use slows/chill or knockdowns to keep your pet on the target as they will most likely be moving.
Even ranged pets miss a lot with moving targets and will benefit from any cc greatly.
