Pet improvements
Simple for me but I want Stow Pet to mean Stow Pet. I want to choose when it comes out not whenever I take the slightest damage. Mostly for traits that proc when you switch or bring your pet out.
Well, before asking for more pet improvements, Drakes still need to be looked at. When the update hit, Drakes were still fine, as I recall their unbuffed DPS was at 573 for letting them automatically attack without using their F2 ability.
Then, one of the several patches broke their AI – disabling them from using both Chomp and Tail Swipe – their hardest hitting moves, which dropped them to 420 DPS.
I also agree with the critical chance between pets, unfortunately, it might be controversial since Ranger has its own set of power creep. Primary examples would be condition Ranger becomes stronger in PvE while BM bunker Druids become more annoying in PvP/WvW.
So, as much as I want it, it will come with heavy consequences – and I kind of like where the damage ratio is now. At launch, the damage was distributed between the player and pet around 60/40, which later become 70/30, and now it’s around 80/20.
Are Rangers willing to see reductions to their own capabilities in favor of Pets receiving further boosts? I think with topics such as these, it’s important to ask ourselves this – even though it may not be the most popular thing to do.

Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Well I am not asking for damage buffs. I would simply like to see more meaningful choices between pets. Right now I feel that there are only few best in slot pets.
For example I would like to use pet with CC and dogs/wolves are my favorite animals so I would like to pick a wolf. But lightning wyvern is superior in EVERY way! Higher dps, higher survivability, better CC. Using inferior pet just because I like it feels bad.
Also DPS gap between felines and other pets seems to me too much. I mean based on your DPS test they are basicaly doing DOUBLE damage of other pet’s families.
Now look at that contrast with wolves – with the highest Power have one of the lowest DPS. Comparing pets in game based on their stats seems to be completely meaningless.

Yeah. Odd how Canines fell so low from before. Almost sad that Porcines are equal to them in damage – and with such low precision to boot. I presumed during the update that Canines having a longer auto attack range than other pets (except birds) had something to do with the lower damage.
As for the pet stats, especially power, you’ve pointed out a sore thumb since a pet’s power stat is only useful if the coefficient scales well with it. With that point in mind, I wouldn’t mind seeing Canines have a slight bump in power. They don’t perform any better when traited for conditions, so, it couldn’t hurt.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
One thing I don’t like about the pets is when we are downed by a player it takes 20 seconds before out pets come to help us get up. Most, if not all, of the other classes have more than one way to heal. Some have several ways. Rangers have to wait for the pets and it takes forever for the heal #6 to refill. I do believe that should be addressed by Anet. Also, many times I hit my #3 on my longbow I don’t get ANY stealth. That has been an issues for a very long time. People complain about pets and Rangers and we get “balanced” but it’s not balancing us its taking our skills away and “dumbing us down”. I don’t see them doing that to Thief’s or Mesmer’s. I just think they should make every class even and let it depend on the player’s skills.
Another huge problem pets face is that currently, quickness will only increase the attack speed of regular attacks from devourer, spider, smokescale, bristleback or wyvern pets. On any other pet, quickness does not increase regular attack speed.
Very, very confused over this issue :/

Haven’t had time to test this out myself. Bug report it.

Wait, Drakes are broken again? They were broken at launch too, in the same way to boot. Wouldn’t use any of their special attacks except F2.
Then they finally fixed that bug and Chomp was bugged to heal the ENEMY instead of the pet. Took another couple months to fix that one as I recall.
Non-HoT pets (but including tiger) needs Toughness/Vitality buff. Their survivability is even worse now due to powercreeps that came with the expansion. Its never been easier to cleave/aoe them to death in PvP/small scale roaming.
Also, majority of the pets are still crap.

Ranger skill lick wounds takes 8 seconds from the time you are downed to be able to activate. Pet comes immediately to you once activated, at max range its possible theres a 5 second delay for it to complete its run to your body. Daze/Stun/Fear/AnyCC the pet? It will go right back to rezzing you once the cc is over. Defeat the pet while its rezzing? Half the time it will continue to rez anyway.
Guardians are the only other profession that has access to a heal other than bandage while downed, and it also takes 8 seconds from the time you are downed until you can activate it.
What game are you playing again? It’s certainly not Guild Wars 2.
