Pet res still bugged
Can’t say that I’m shocked about that one.

Story of the whole Ranger profession.
Ahahahahahahha, thats epic fail definitely.
Downed hit 3 and low and behold bear is standing on me not ressing, has happened a couple times now post patch, “Pet-revive skills no longer fail to heal their target.” great fix thanks anet.
Perhaps they mean Search and Rescue? Will test it later when I get back.

That skill no one ever uses because it’s garbage and not because it’s ‘bugged’?
Sounds like anet.

Shrug, each to his own I guess. I don’t use it frequently, but in certain specific encounters I find it invaluable, even if it has some problems activating. But I’ll have to see for myself when I test it later.

I like it in theory, but the last time I used it in a fractal the pet heals for 10 a tick which is probably even slower than using a revive orb assuming it doesn’t get killed by the rampaging instagib boss.
It either needs a massive boost to the rate it heals, or a massive reduction to the cool down. As it stands, it’s just not worth a slot.
Although, if player healing power would affect the pet as well and this wouldn’t even be an issue in the first place. But, that won’t happen. It’s not like the thing is supposed to be half our class or anything…
They’ve “Buffed” Search and Rescue but its still a mediocre skill and really isn’t something to have perma slotted I’ve tried it a couple times post patch and its still bugged just like lick wounds is. Pets will move on top and then doesn’t res just stands there like a date raper waiting for you to pass out.

Forgive me for veering off-topic with this discussion of S&R, but…
The biggest advantage, to me, of S&R is the fact that your pet can revive someone while you do something elsewhere. This is invaluable in fights like the Dredge Fractal boss, or the Grawl boss, where if a player tries to revive (from a dead state), the boss will aggro towards them and drop AoE. So you just send your pet to do it, without fear of boss aggroing on it, while the players are fighting on the other side of the map.
Whether it deserves the “slot” or not is a moot point, in my opinion. I don’t use it 99% of the time, but if I’m PUGing some fractals, I slot it in specifically for those bosses. You never know if it’s going to be useful or not of course, but there have been occasions it has proven very useful for me.
Again, each to his own. I’ll personally be pretty excited if S&R works 100% of the time. It can’t hurt, right?

That is unfortunate. Ah well. I’ll test it later myself just to make sure.
Doesn’t surprise me
even
one
bit.
Anet kittens on the ranger class every month. It’s more common than buffing warrior.
The amount of healing SnR gives is terrible. Like really. It ticks for like 10-15 with a 85 sec CD, if I’m not wrong.
85 seconds?? thats more than some elite skills. They could certainly cut like 20-30 secs off it, and boost the healing a bit. After all it does take up a slot, and the pet isn’t doing anything else while in SnR. Effectively while the pet is healing a significant chunk of the ranger’s dps is taken away.
You mean the WvW patch that forced them to disable WvW failed to successfully fix Ranger pet rez? … why am I not surprised …
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.

Revive someone or a random useless NPC. The skill would be much more useful if you could pick who the pet revives.

I actually never ran into that problem (no NPCs in the two specific situations I use it in). I suppose you’re right though.
EDIT: I actually wonder how hard that is to implement though. To my knowledge, the game engine does not have any targetted buffs/heals to allies. Hmm.
But actually, when do you run into the problem? Does it not prioritize players over NPCs? Are you sure you’re casting it with the dead player in range? Maybe not targetted, but prioritize players, definitely.

See what your saying would be awesome if other professions didn’t have an insta res skill like war banner or the glyph of renewal which can res multiple people. now the only sound argument for S&R is we are the only class that can res dead not downed people but even then.

I’m fully aware of insta-rez skills which revived downed people. Rangers have one too.
The situations I’m talking about are when said players is DEAD, and the boss has moved on. Again, very situational. But still useful.
I was dueling a ranger on my thief today, and we both got downed (be kind, I’m still reeling from losing my 3 quicknesses) – the pet was close to dead and he used lick wounds. I switched targets to the pet, and killed it…… and it kept healing him.
This is the same bug we have with under water pets, but it seems to have leaked over to land based lick wounds….

Maybe that was their “fix”. Having seen some of their sense of balance, it wouldn’t surprise me.
However, they still haven’t fix lick wound on uneven ground. Just tested in PvP, pet can’t even rez on a small ramp.

The way they are currently going, they will leave the bug where pet res doesn’t work 75% of the time and fix the “bug” (how do we know it’s a bug and not the intended function) that allows pets to res when downed/cowering.
