Pets Got Stupid
Not sure if this is related to the patch as I only just noticed this, but the F2 ability on the Hyena which spawns a second Hyena is more hassle than it’s worth. At the end of combat the 2nd Hyena attacks a random mob in the area and pulls agro. Doesn’t matter if the enemy is 50 meters away, it will run over and attack. It would be nice if it only attacked the enemies me or my pet was fighting.

LOL really?
That’s a horrible AI design.
But yeah I think it was a patch or 2 ago they screwed up the pet AI
before that patch occured, you could stand near your pet now when you try to do that, your pet moves away from you like you’ve got rabies.
Pets always behaved like that, be happy that you didn’t suffer from it beforehand.
The second Hydra doesn’t listen to your pet commands and just attacks enemies randomly, that sucks.
Pets need a huge fix to their AI and responsiveness.
I know that my 2 kitties will spawn in different places. I will be reviving someone while reviving my pet before it dies. One pet stands right next to me when I summon him, the other gets summoned ahead of me into the fray even though I have not moved.
This does get annoying. I know dogs can run faster than people (even Sylvari) so I’m not sure if this is intended to make the animals more realistic. Ya know, I start running, dog chases after me, I stop, it goes “huh?” and then grinds to a halt 10 feet past me. Either way, it needs to stop.

Pets are generally screwed up at the moment. Their seems to be no method to their madness. They run off, attack crap you haven’t told them to, run too far ahead of you. It has gotten to the point where I just stow them away while I’m running from one area to the next.
Pets have always beenkitten /p>
Learn to control using the comands they gave it
I walk with my pet on stow and passive most of the time, and control with with F1/F3
Allows me to have more control over my pet, they arekitten learn to live with it instead of QQ

Why?
It needs improvment, so a very valid discussion.
I agree with these problem and I also think that this not being able to revive your pet thing is crap. I have one pet that I like more than the others and I don’t want to have to swap it out just to have a pet that is alive. It dies to fast even with boosting skills, it runs ahead and agroes or agroes things while running from one point to the other. At this point I acctually wish I could just skipp having a pet cause it’s more trouble than it add things.
In my opinion they should make changes to the pets like these:
pets ignore enemies while running from point A to point B that is longer than a certain distance.
Only attack when it is being attacked unless the player has started to attack an enemy.
If the pet dies the player should be able to choose between reviving the pet or swapping it, not being forced to swap or have to wait until all enemies around are dead. Than also reviving pet should have a secondary priority to reviving other players so if both pet and a player is dead at one place the first target should be the player unless the owner of the pet contiously selects the pet.
When no enemies are nearby they should stay close to the player as they are a companion not a wild thing that is afraid of you.
This is offcourse just my opinion and others should give their opinion too.
My wife is having similar issues. We were hesitant about pets during beta, but when launch came they performed much better, not amazing, but better. After this last patch for the pet AI, her pet has been behaving poorly and her enjoyment of her ranger has dropped dramatically. Her pet doesn’t respond properly to commands and behaves somewhat randomly in combat. If it isn’t fixed relatively soon, she may have to consider starting over, which would be a massive bummer for both of us.
My pet has always run in front of me, sometimes aggroing something. That gets annoying. I’m hoping they will fix this and put our pets on a shorter leash.
