Pets and condition damage
Yes, you and your pets’ condition damage are separate.
If you both apply bleeds, your stacks of bleeds will do damage per second independent of the damage per second of your pets. For example, it wouldn’t be uncommon for you to see some bleeds ticking for 80 and others ticking for 45.
Now, if both you and your pet apply poison/burning, whomever has the higher condition damage will have their damage ticks applied first. So if you have the higher cond dmg and apply 3 seconds and your pet applies 4 seconds, the first 3 ticks will be with your damage and the last 4 will be with your pet’s. At least that is my understanding.
Now, when it comes to bleed stacking, those whose bleeds are ticking for more will take priority over those whose bleeds are ticking for less. That is, if my pet and I are applying bleeds that do 60 per tick and you are only applying 45 per tick, my pet and I’s bleeds will lock your bleeds out once the stack of bleeds is at 25.

Thank you for the very fast reply Sebrent.
Okey, nice to hear that I won’t be gimping myself or my pet then atm my condition dmg is so low so I haven’t really seen any difference in the numbers yet.
You’re welcome
Take a look here if you want more information about conditions:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition_Damage
You can also follow the links from there for more information on specific conditions.
If you look at our list of compiled information about ranger skills and traits, you’ll fine that the trait for improving pet condition damage gives your pet +350 conditiond damage (I think I’m remembering that right …. check the list to be sure … my brain is farting today, lol).
If you’re going for pet condition damage, I’d recommend the cats as of the pets that can apply bleeds on-crit, they have the highest crit chance. They also already have autocast (and the lynx has an F2) that apply bleeds.
What is it you’re currently trying to accomplish anyways?

@Sebrent, i thought the way Burning and Poison worked was that say your Burning did 2k damage (i’m just using simple numbers not realistic ones), and mine did 1k, and we both applied 4 seconds of burning to the target (mine then yours) that your burning would tick first and then mine would go after yours has fallen off.
I could be wrong though.

You may be correct. Perhaps we need a few more to jump in on this and possibly provide a link to legit information on the subject :-)

Yeah I’ll keep my jaguar as my main pet, seems like a good choice.
What I’m trying to accomplish here is a fun and effective build which works well for dungeons using some melee (really like melee ranger) and pet. I’m not sure if I should go very tanky with pvt and let the pet to the dmg, go conditions or go power/crit or some kind of hybrid :S

Hmmm, you could always be your pets “pocket healer” and go with a build to just kinda boost your pet up and keep him going with a healing armor set like Clerics.

If you like melee, Durzlla’s Cleric suggestion is a pretty good one. It’ll do a better job of keeping your pet alive as well.
If you want some more damage, check out my tanky greatsword power ranger build that’s somewhere on these forums. You won’t provide as much healing, but you’ll have a much higher effective health which will help you not get insta-gibbed in melee.

that’s an interesting idea, never thought of getting alot of healing
gonna look for it Sebrent

You should check out some of these other threads. There is a good one for Apothecary gear and I have a thread for people interested in that gear to put down their names for being interested in farming it together (otherwise it can get expensive and/or boring).

oooh, apothecary gear looks very interesting, need to find that thread too
