There is a lot of negative threads here at the moment so I though the I would post something positive.

Condition damage for pets was the item that stood out the most to me form the live stream and patch notes. I mostly just laughed when I heard about the WHaO change. Not only is this a buff to our pets but it is also a buff to some traits, weapon skills and to a lesser extent our down state.

Some of the things the I have found to be effective

Skirmishing/Short bow builds using “Sharpened Edges” and Short bow 4 for pet bleeds (testing spider for this)
BM bunkers using “Companion’s Might” and cats it gives me a reason to not use Go for the Eyes or shout trait.

I am also considering giving up “Oakheart Salve” for Expertise Training
It is also a minor buff to Refined Toxins.

I think that this changes as it quite a big step in the right direction.

PS: in before someone complains about this should have been implement 3 years ago

Actually if I recall correctly, having 700 condition dmg post-patch of 23rd equaled to having 0 condition dmg pre-patch, so in a way we always had it. Implementing the condition dmg now was only to bring it back to where it was.

not quite

having less then 700 is now less effective then before and having more then 700 is more effective then before. zero has always been zero and pets had zero

With traits and might buffing some pets can reach over 2000 condition damage. Combine with Sharpened edges, Hidden Barbs, Refined Toxins (possibly Poison Master) and Companions Might for good condi pressure from the pet alone.

I’m looking forward to having a fire wyvern for that sweet sweet burning field on F2. Expertise training will make those burning stacks seriously dangerous.

Hmm, have to qoute myself on this one. Is the damage from the traits I just mentioned based on the pets condi damage, or the rangers?

Probably not now that I look at the trait (I think it should though).

I would imagine the damage from traits is from the pets. I believe that poising master is from is from ours but companions might and sharpen edges is should be from theirs i might have to do some testing in the mists.

But on a positive note. i was wondering around letter my Cat solo wvw sentrys and was getting up to 10 bleed stacks ticketing for 1000 but averaging about 6 ish ticking for about 700 (depending on when it mauled)

this used sharpen edges, expertise training and companions might
for a spider i was get some good poison numbers in bursts but the spider wasn’t criting often enough to get much bleeding going but with a bit of fury or spotter is might kitten.
