Pets are now worse in WvW?
Heres my issue with with pets in WvW. Arrow Carts. Try being productive in taking a keep/tower now with the damage and distance of arrow carts. The distance exceeds even a traited LB ranger. Pet dies immediately. I use to be able to send my pet into a zerg and get a couple hits on a piece of siege/player at least before dying. Not anymore.
If you played warrior with greatsword in wvw, would you be able to hit a target that has run speed? In other words, there exists different run speed in gw2. If you can’t be bothered to chill, cripple, knockdown, daze, or stun your target, then why should I have any sympathy for your beastmaster build’s ineffectiveness? Use agility training or run with a team that can guve you swiftness. And, for dwyana’s sake, you’re a ranger. Cripple your foes. I got hundreds of badges last month this way so it clearly works.

Yes because I have complete control over my character unlike my pet. Thank you for confirming that anet screwd the pooch once again.

This is more of a blanket issue for everyone in WvW right now. It will be interesting to see what happens because of this since anet isn’t particularly fond of hotfixes for anything other than actual glitches.
Even the tankiest guardian gets turned to chum in an AC choke point.

Gee, what an intelligent response, idiot. So genious tell me how rangers, who are forced to keep pets out, going to keep a pet alive if for example trying to take a tower with the new arrow carts. Again with the new distance buff on AC, it now pushes a traited LB ranger out of range. Your pet usually stops a distance in front of you, so its not like you can place your pet behind you. So be more constructive instead of the pathetic L2P response.
Pets have 22k hp now, I think all of them have so much or more even. 1 arrow cart shouldn’t be able to destroy your pets more than yourself.
Even the tankiest guardian gets turned to chum in an AC choke point.
Which should be the case btw.

“Pets” I think you mean drakes. So far as I can tell the pets that were good with moving targets (canines) seem to have had little change. That being said I still seem the same issue with moving target I have always seen. Overall the patch is a buff for us so I will take it. Not really like we have a choice.

Sup carts can now hit for over 1000 damage (was taking around 2k a hit) and that is just one. Overlap a couple of carts and nothing will survive in it.

You think siege weapon is for deterring people? Throwing lots of pebbles is reterring. I didn’t come under fire from the new AC yet, but before I could go to a wall throw 3 traps up there, use entangle, use barrage and stand in arrow cart aoe before having a problem, and I only have 1500 toughness and 17-18k hp. ACs should be deadly, like any siege.

The only siege that was “deadly” before this was the ballista if you got hit point blank by a spread shot since that would deal enough damage to down any player but that has obvious challenges that the new AC doesn’t.

I didn’t say they are ok, I said that before they weren’t an issue if you only got targeted by 1, and that they should be deadly. Having said that 1 AC still won’t cause as much problem against a zerg, but at least more of them will be useful. At least I expect them to be.

Hearing reports that they are. I have been told they are having the same issues on moving targets and with the drake f2 ability’s not tracking enemy’s they are missing even more now. Have not had the chance to play yet so have not been able to see this for my self. Any one else able to see if this working better in WvW for us?
I think pets are always gonna be useless in zerg fights other than keeping them passive and giving boons.
For solo roaming/small groups it’s been a very nice improvement. Your pet no longer stands in the front of your target taking a lot of damage but moves to its back. Also lowered F2 skills cast time is pretty cool.
Still a lot of things to be improved/fixed but it’ll take time and I’m ok with it.

As I’ve said a hundred times by now, rangers NEED a buff when their pets are dead- killing my pet has made me angry ‘I WILL AVENGE YOU’, which will increase bow damage by 30% until your pet is alive again, which would make up for the fact you have lost 50% of your damage.
Or better yet, stowing your pets works, and whilst you pets are unsummoned you gain 30% damage increase to all bow attacks- which would allow players to attack walls/defend walls and use their damage in all those other situations where pets are completely useless. It would even allow playing as a ranger.

I’m sorry, but this will break PVP. Part of fighting against a ranger is having the option of killing the pet to cripple the ranger. If this is actually the case (pet dead = ranger stronger than before), the amount of “rangers are OP” QQ threads will cause us to get a massive nerf hammer again.

I’m sorry, but this will break PVP. Part of fighting against a ranger is having the option of killing the pet to cripple the ranger. If this is actually the case (pet dead = ranger stronger than before), the amount of “rangers are OP” QQ threads will cause us to get a massive nerf hammer again.
And the whole losing whatever part of the ranger’s performance while defending from a wall isn’t an issue. Maybe we should ask for a pet with thumbs that F2 is to use siege weapons.

Everyone is having issues with arrow carts right now. There is a massive thread about it in the WvW part of the forum. It’s not a pet specific issue.
The only issue I ran into in WvW was my pet not having 25% movement speed because I kept activating it with my new build (I’ll probably go back to not using it on targets that move). Aside from that, they should have improved.

Haha it’s simple: avoid aoe, particularly if you run glass. How do you take a well defended seige position? Easy: with a team. I am not a pro. Seriously, you guys whine about the most ludicrous things. And I’m not anet, if I was, I wouldn’t be here. You are the trolls that run the devs out of here.
